About this property
Tui Glen - Lake front bach with stunning views
An original little Lockwood holiday home on a sheltered lake edge section in Boatshed Bay. Furnished with an open plan kitchen, dining and living area and a gas fireplace for winter. Boardwalk and steps lead down through bush and tree ferns to a shared deep water jetty. The deck, equipped with outdoor furniture and a gas barbeque, provides stunning views across the lake to Mt Tarawera and Kariri Point. The carport at the rear of the bach provides cover for two vehicles.
Native birdlife abounds, a family of quails occasionally meander over the lawn and glow worms can be seen at the bottom of the steps in the evening. The site is private and peaceful and allows for full enjoyment of all that Lake Tarawera has to offer including safe swimming, lakeside walking tracks, trout fishing, boating, mountain biking or just relaxing.
Situated near the start of the Tarawera settlement it is only a scenic 20 minute drive from Rotorua city centre and a short drive to the local lakeside cafe and the Buried Village at Te Wairoa. The nearest boat ramp is a couple of minutes drive along the road at Kariri Point, or a five minute walk along the lake front track, and is where boats can be launched and boat trailers parked. Please note there is not enough space to turn or park a boat trailer at the property and the Council no longer allow boats on trailers to be left at Kariri Point. There is a landline phone at the bach for local calls but no wifi at present. There is now also reasonable cellphone coverage in the area.
Tui Glen is a great place to escape to at any time of the year and is ideal for couples or small families.
**Extras: BYO Linen/ Towels. If not can be provided at extra cost. Please confirm beforehand.**
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

This property was absolutely immaculate. It had all the things we needed for a stress free stay. The views from the house were out of this world. This was actually one of the best I’ve stayed in. We hired more linen coz we didn’t want to travel with that and the price for 3 of us was extremely reasonable. Would stay there again in a heartbeat and hopefully will again soon. Highly recommend.
Amazing views of the lake in a classic, tidy and very comfortable little 2 bedroom bach. Amazing access down to the water walking through lovely ferns. The holiday house is equipped with everything needed for a great little NZ holiday.
A very pleasant place to be to wind down.Nested tranquilly within bush with a wonderful view onto the lake.Great outside amenities to sit and enjoy the view and relax.2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower in a bathtub are all you need to enjoy your stay.The kitchen has a microwave, oven and typically sized fridge-freezer to store drinks and food.Overall a wonderful place to escape to.We will surely come back!
The Bach is immaculate. Beautiful view, has everything we needed for a couple of nights away. Communication with Carol was simple and efficient and very welcoming Thanks once again for sharing your gorgeous Bach with us. No doubt we will be back!!
We had another awesome long weekend stay; a perfect location tucked away in the bush with gorgeous views of the lake. So quiet, with everything you need.
Such a beautiful location with a quick walk down some stairs and you are lakeside. Clean, tidy accommodation and it was great to have use of kayaks for the lake. I would highly recommend.
Such a lovely spot with the most beautiful view over the lake! We thoroughly enjoyed heading down to the lake via the private path. The house suited all our needs, and the hosts were very communicative.
We visited from the US for the Ironman. It’s a shame we were so busy in Taupo during our few days here because we would’ve loved spending more time here relaxing, enjoying the blue water and the kayaks, and sitting on the porch soaking up one of the more beautiful of God’s creations. Communication was great, and we would love to stay here again!
Classic kiwi batch with everything you need together with an awesome outlook and direct access to the lake. Unfortunately only two days but with the secluded location and bush surrounds it really felt like we were on holiday! We’ll definitely be back (if we can get a booking! :-)
Great wee place with everything we needed. Tiny and super well kept and clean made it easy to clean when we left. Amazing to be right by the lake. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise.
