Our home is located in a luxury 4 season resort community of Masthope. It is located 1 mile from Ski Big Bear Mountain where you can enjoy downhill skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. You will receive a 25% discount off ski lift tickets for everyone in your group when you book our home. Come enjoy cross country skiing trails as well.

The space
We are only a mile from the Olympic Size Pool that has slides, diving boards, and a kiddie pool for all to enjoy. Located adjacent to the pool is a restaurant, outdoor tiki bar, and indoor sports bar, as well as the ski lodge and Ski Big Bear mountain.

Masthope Beach, located only a mile from our home, offers free kayaks, canoe, pedal boats, and paddle board rentals.

Thanksgiving Holiday
So we booked the house for our Thanksgiving Family vacation. It was 12 of us going. But the day we were supposed to leave NYC to travel to PA my mother fell on a sidewalk & broke her arm. It was so devastating to us because we had already booked & paid for the house. But Once we were told to follow up for surgery after the holiday. My mother said I don’t want to spoil the trip for everyone let’s just go. So instead of us checking in on 11/21 we checked in the morning of 11/23(Thanksgiving) missing 1 1/2 days of our vacation. But to top it off when I went to pick up my father from his house to travel with us I found he had a foot ulcer. But he still wanted to go. I’m an RN; So during our family trip I took care of my fathers foot & My mothers arm pain. Once we got settled in; my mother passed out & we had to call 911 to the home. EMS team were great;Thank God she was alright but it was a terrifying moment. All the while I was keeping the host Joseph updated on what was happening. The house was truly in the woods but it was very nice just what we expected. Our only issue was that we did not have access to the towels & washcloths. Because the key was taken by mistake by the cleaning lady. But Joseph was apologetic & understood our situation. He asked us to go purchase our own towels & washcloths; & he would reimburse us. Which he did. He also extended our trip for an extra day with no extra charge; knowing what we all been through in the past couple of days. I want to thank him.

Masthope Rental in 2021
I informed the property manager that I had suggestions for improvement to his property for future renters since I got the impression, and it was confirmed by the office in this community as well as the house cleaner, that the owners had newly purchased this home and were new to the VRBO process. As a result, I found the property had very little warmth or TLC associated with it. There was no investment in fresh paint in the rooms or furniture in the living room especially. Aside from a sectional sofa and coffee table there was no other seating for a house that was to accomodate up to 12 adults. Bedrooms were sparse and there were no bedside table lamps in 2 of them. There were only 9 very flimsy white towels that were not bath towels but more hand towels. It's a good thing I brought my own! One bedroom lacked an AC and in another the AC was too loud to sleep well. There were light comforters on the beds but no extra blankets if they should be needed. The 2 bathrooms had no towel bars for hanging new or used towels. There was no dish rack or dish towels in the kitchen and there were only 3 wine glasses, one of which was already cracked when we arrived....again not what you would expect for a home accomodating so many adults. I reached out to the property manager the Monday before our Friday arrival and asked about a coffee pot and if there was none I would bring my own. He indicated there would be one but when we got there none was present. The housekeeper brought her own over but it was only for 4 cups of coffee....not sufficient for 12 adults. I was most discouraged by the owner informing me there was an additional $100 fee I owed for using the community facilities. I have never been charged this before though I've stayed in this community in 4 prior years. It had never been mentioned previously when I made my reservation and it was not included in the original listing when I made my reservation and was charged the full cost of my stay on my credit card months ago. This community fee is not typically passed on to renters I later learned from someone working in their office. Another change from when I made my reservation originally and was confirmed as late as 3 days before my arrival was the departure time. It had been listed as 11am but was changed to 10am (sharp!) the day before I arrived. I also had to go to the office several times for all 11 guest passes required since the owner only provided them with 8 names.

Family Poconos Trip
The check in process was super easy and when we arrived at the home it was super clean which was a huge plus . The kitchen was huge! Some starter products were available which was good but definitely bring ur own as well . The home was half way point from the pool and beach but need to drive to get to both ( literally a 3 min drive ). The community was beautiful. The kitchen had all necessary pots and pans but no spices ( salt /pepper) bring ur own. Also there is a Keurig no basic coffee pot but a tea kettle ; bring k cups or ur own coffee pot. A slight hiccup w the grill but communication w Joseph was quick and easy and there was a grill Any communication w Joseph was easily responded to in a few minutes or slightly longer . Some suggestions : 1. Maybe a coffee pot in the home 2. Possibly more towels provided for the guest but there is a washer and dryer ! 3. Add some basic spices ( we left ours ) My family and I had a great time and we spent our time zip lining , soaring eagle , mountain coaster , mini golf , shuffle board , swimming , canoeing , paddle boating etc there is lots to do but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate w us and we would of spent more time by the beach and pool If the sun was out !!! Great place to rent and a great price ! Don’t pass up !!!
