"We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation in Maine than at this beautiful house on St John’s bay. Communication with the owners was seamless! We took full advantage of the location by visiting the local beach, Boothbay, and Acadia National Park. Being able to walk across the street and sit by the bay to enjoy our morning coffee or 4th of July fireworks was priceless! We can’t wait to come back next year!"
Spacious & tranquil waterfront hideaway on Muscongus Sound
4/10 Poor
"We really wanted to love this place. The house itself was nice. Great location. Very relaxing. The main floor and top bedroom floor were highlights for sure. Comfortable master bedroom. Great balconies. Nice kitchen.
It was a little warm in the summer with no A/C you need to blast the fans, but it’s not a deal breaker. Worse is the upstairs shower has a strong sulpher smell. We also live on a well so we understand a sulpher smell, but this one is stronger than what we expected. It’s not the most pleasant. I recommend this property for 1 or 2 people since the upstairs bedroom was the only usable one.
Unfortunately, the property has a severe issue with mold on the bottom floor, making it completely unusable. The smell was strong, and it was evident that the mold problem had been present for some time. This drastically reduced the usable space and comfort of the accommodation.
Even more frustrating was the hosts' unresponsiveness. Despite multiple attempts to contact them regarding the mold issue, they were slow to respond and did not take any immediate action to address the problem. This lack of communication and assistance was disappointing and added unnecessary stress to the stay.
I’m in the hospitality industry and I’m not one to complain unnecessarily. But people should know the issues we experienced so they can know what to expect."
