Cabaña Los Tucanes - Paradise for Couples!

Amazing paradise in the middle of the rain forest, more than 64000 square feet to explore, enjoy and relax. You will find the peace that you are looking for with a little creek next to with pristine waters, lots of flowers, birds, frogs and our comfortable cabin. Mainly recommended for couples all ages or families that would like to be just outside town but close enough to explore all Arenal Volcano attractions. We just add a bigger balcony with a comfortable hot tub up to 4 people.

The cabin is fully equipped with bed linen, towels, kitchen area, private bathroom with hot water, safety deposit box, a king sized bed and two single beds in the second floor special for young kids, it is a mezzanine using a ladder to go up.

**We just add a private hot tub where our guests can relax and enjoy the nature sounds of the rainforest**

The property is just for you, there is nobody else so you will have privacy in this secluded and magical property, all house has screens so you do no have to worry about bugs, going outside and anyplace is better get bug spray with you.

The cabin is located 3 miles away from downtown La Fortuna (10 minutes drive), very private location, good neighborhood and accessible road for any type of car; we will recommend have a car for this location, there is a good taxi/Uber service available but is better have your own car to go around.

Hi my name is Sergio Brenes I’m a chef with over 15 years of experience. I fell in love with cooking thanks to my grandma. I started Nativo Chef 2 years ago so you can enjoy local quality food from your Airbnb.

Breakfast includes coffee, orange juice and fresh fruit from $35. Lunch and dinner are both 3 courses with a cocktail included from $80. We have kids, veggie and gluten free options.

We also have a bartender service, cocktail classes and cooking classes. We’re happy to work on special menus for you.

We’d love you to experience and enjoy Costa Rican food and it would be a pleasure to serve you.

Very clean. Responsive hosts. Amazing secluded location and beautiful grounds, yet close enough to town center. Great beds and towels, strong AC if needed. Lovely outside decking and seating. kitchen is sufficient and exterior dining facilities are plentiful, etc. Only suggestions would be to have a couple of chairs or a small sofa indoors for downtime in the evening or to watch TV and sit to put on shoes, etc. Also could put tv on swing arm to enable viewing from bed since there were no chairs. Loft and loft ladder worked for a young adult, but ceiling height is low.

Beautiful stay

Very peaceful, private property with beautiful landscaping. Enjoyed the back porch with the grill, jacuzzi, and outdoor seating to eat and relax. Nice path around house to look at flowers and creek.

A Hidden Gem Near La Fortuna

We loved our stay at Cabana Los Tucanes! The yard is absolutely beautiful—lush with tropical plants and frequently visited by stunning birds, including yellow-throated and keel-billed toucans. We spent peaceful mornings and evenings on the patio soaking in the natural surroundings. Just a 10-minute drive from La Fortuna, it's the perfect spot: close enough for easy access, but far enough to feel like a private retreat. A true hidden gem!

Nature Preserve

Staying here is kind of like having your own nature preserve. Short trails, lots of birds (including the eponymous toucans)…Hosts were great, helped with booking adventures and moved us into another unit when there was a power outage. Place is small, our family of four was a bit cramped, but there’s lots of nice outdoor space. Would stay again…

Fantastic retreat in the middle of paradise

I wish I could stay here forever.. it was like a small slice of heaven amidst the tropical forest. The cabin is so quaint and romantic. The management is excellent!

Private villa on gorgeous property

We enjoyed our stay at this adorable villa. We loved the privacy and being just outside of town. The grounds are beautiful- I loved walking around in the evenings and mornings to listen to the birds and other critters.

A very cool spot!

We loved the little cabin in the jungle, especially the screened in porch. The convection stove top was a bit difficult to master, and the mattress could use an upgrade, but it was a great value. Lots of privacy! Also, kudos to Allen and the folks at House of Travel for giving us lots of great advice and showing us around!

Lovely property

Love the property. All kinds of birds. There was a running creek and a pond which allowed us to be serenaded by frogs at night. Everything was well kept up. Neighborhood felt safe at night. Found a little café in La Fortuna that specialized in chocolate, Absolutely delicious there.

Delightful cabin out of town

Adorable and functional cabin on secluded property. No amenities in the immediate area, but not far to La Fortuna. Most excursions will not do direct pickup here. Property itself was comfortable and complete with everything we needed. We appreciated responsiveness and communication with the property manager.

Incredible property!

We absolutely loved this property. The grounds are so beautiful, and included stone walking paths, a bamboo grove, flowering shrubs, and a bubbling stream in the back. The best part, though, was the number of birds that would gather on the property. Every day we saw toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, and other exotic birds. The house itself was very clean and not an insect inside (something I worried about in Costa Rica). I highly recommend this rental!

Beautiful

Cute cabin. Felt very secluded but close to town. We had a car. Beautiful property. Small item was the hot plate display doesn’t work well and so had to do a lot of button pushing to figure out how to make it work. We saw two toucans as well! Excellent and would recommend.

Excellent quite and peaceful house and property

Stayed 3 nights - easy check in and check out. This place is lovely - it's a roomy little "cabin" with excellent grounds for a walk and fairly off the beaten path. Well equipped, good a/c and wifi -- very clean. You can't go wrong at this place. Screened porch is a plus and cute loft for 2nd BR. Its abut a 12 minute drive to La Fortuna, which was fine for us - easy to drive in, park and meet gruides. having a car is close to necessary. Go ahead - book it - you won;t be sorry.

Private cottage on beautiful property

We spent 3 nights at Cabana Los Tucanes in August. It is located about 10 minutes from LaFortuna in a rural neighborhood. It is very private and the grounds are just beautiful. The bed is comfy and the screened porch is really a nice place to spend some time. The air conditioning is a necessity and most appreciated! We had a few issues that were unavoidable and the manager was extremely quick to respond and correct them. It was a memorable stay!

Mostly Private and Serene

Beautiful grounds with lots of room, plants, trees, bamboo, a duck pond, a stream. Perfect area in general. Arenal is visible from the street. There were lots of different birds and animals passing through occasionally. The cabin itself has A/C and was super cozy, I slept super well. The only complaint is that there were too many cameras all around the outside of the house, bit of an overkill, wasn't as comfortable with that, would have felt more private with just one or two facing the entryway.

Great Experience!

I recommend this place. Everything was easy and as advertised. We enjoyed our stay. The AC can take a while to cool stuff down when it’s hotter inside than outside. We adjusted and slept well. The shower water pressure is less than fire hydrant. We showered and are clean.

Understated beauty

While the pictures are accurate, they do not do justice to the beauty of the property and coziness of the cabin. The view of the grounds, from the bed, waking up in the morning was just awesome. You have the sounds of the rainforest all of the time. Our girls loved the loft, and it really made a seemingly small space not feel crowded at all for a family of 4. Easy 10 minute drive into La Fortuna. I'll be day dreaming of our morning coffees on the patio for years to come. If you're on the fence, just book it, you won't be sorry.

Cute, Private Hideway Bungalow near La Fortuna

Beautiful, Private, Secluded, well maintained spacious grounds filled with all the sights remarkable sounds of this wilderness area, minutes from fabulous La Fortuna Town Center. We delighted in the sounds especially around sunset, as the place came alive with nature, but no mosquitos! Just about 3km from town we found our place delightful in every way. The remarkable team at Home Vacations and House of Tours went above and beyond to make our stay special and memorable. Our stay was great, our tours delightful, educational and exhilarating. All that we wanted and more. Highly recommended! Thank you! Pura Vida!!!

Quiet stay with natural beauty

My family and I throughly enjoyed our stay here. Our daughter loved the loft bed and the basket on a pulley was a great way to send things up or down as needed. It’s a beautiful place to enjoy the natural setting with lush plants and wildlife, a pond and stream running along the property. The enclosed porch was perfect for watching birds and relaxing outside. We enjoyed exploring outside both during the day and at night for our own little night walk. Not far from La Fortuna, we were able to visit Baldi hot springs, Rio Salto and drive up to Volcano Arenal to hike. We walked to the local produce market and enjoyed the quietness of the area versus being in busy La Fortuna.

Family stay in La Fortuna

Conveniently located. Arriving at this location during the daylight is advised. Lighting inside is awful. I asked if we could get another lamp, but never got one, nor a follow up response. Kitchen is stocked, but pans for cooking need replacing and the stovetop is glitchy. AC worked great after being turned on for a bit. A bit dirty on the storage shelves by the safe. Outside area is great! Sleeping area upstairs is hard to access. NOT for small children or older people. King bed is a plus, but mattress needs a new mattress and the fitted sheet came loose every night. Hotel next door serves breakfast, which is a nice plus. I highly recommend having a car if at this location.

Very relaxing & peaceful

The house was exactly as advertised. It had a few maintenance issues that the owner is taking care of. Initially, we had a couple of major problems but the manager & the owner came out and immediately called workers out and corrected the problems. The covered porch was wonderful. Sitting out at night listening to the birds and other animals was great!The property manager was extremely helpful. My cell phone died close to the house but it's not easy to find. A store owner called the manager and he came to our aid and we followed him to the house.My wife left her Kindle at the house when we moved to another town. The manager facilitated it's return through our car rental company. Communication with the manager was fantastic. Thank you!

Cute & Cozy

This is a cute little cabin with beautiful views from all windows. We were grateful that there was AC because we arrived and it was so humid. The stove is an issue. I'd recommend not planning to cook there unless they've replaced it. We had to unplug it because it wouldn't turn off—other than that the beds are comfortable and the screened-in porch was great. We were concerned about bugs but didn't have any in the place. We had already booked this when we decided not to rent a car and it's possible to get Uber pickups or walk 7 minutes to the main road and catch a bus into town.

Beautiful home & property, located just 10 min drive from town

We loved our stay here! 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a non-hotel option to call home at the end of a day of adventures. It's just the right amount of secluded and off the beaten path, while still feeling safe and incredibly homey. It has everything you need inside, we loved the screened in porch to relax on at the end of the night too. It gets quite toasty inside while you're gone without the AC on but luckily there are two ACs to really pump out the cold air and cool things off. There were only two of us so we did not need the additional beds, but just note the other beds are upstairs in a loft that requires climbing up a wall attached (and very hardy) ladder to get to. Probably not great (safe) for young kids but perfectly suitable for teens+. Just something to keep in mind. We hope to stay here again in the future, should we come back to La Fortuna.
