It’s only 5 mins drive from Kuhmo town. The hotel vicinity offers trail walking, bike riding and winter activities.

Nice and cozy spa hotel with excellent staff

This is a nice and cozy hotel by the lake in beautiful surroundings. The staff was excellent and very helpful in getting the best possible experience in Kuhmo and the area around it. Breakfast was good with home-baked bread. The hotel has a nice spa and sauna area, with an outdoor jacuzzi by the lake. It is very good value for the money.

Sängyn patja oli selälleni liian kova; selkä kipeytyi. Poreammeet ja sauna olivat hyviä. Hotelli sijaitsee luonnonkauniilla paikalla järven vieressä. Lähellä myös upea harjumaasto ulkoiluun. Huone oli siisti.

Hotelli itsessään oli viihtyisä. Yöllä huoneessa oli kuitenkin aivan älyttömän kuuma (huoneessa olevan mittarin mukaan 26 astetta), vaikka ulkona oli viileää. Ilmanvaihto vaikutti olevan pois päältä (ei kuulunut huminaa venttiileistä ennen kuin vasta seuraavana aamuna), ja paikalla ei ollut henkilökuntaa, jolle ilmoittaa asiasta. Hieman helpotti, kun irrotti tuuletusikkunasta hyttysverkon, jotta ilma pääsi vaihtumaan. Aamiainen oli laadukas. Häiritsi, että henkilökunnalla tuntui olevan jotakin kränää ja jotkut istuivat yksinään omissa pöydissään salin toisella puolella.

Kalevala-hotelli on helmi Suomen hotellien joukoss

Patjat alkoivat olla loppuun nukuttuja, varsinkin toinen sänky oli istuttu reunaltaan niin luiskaksi, että patja pyrki valumaan pois sängystä. Wi-Fi toimi hyvin huonosti. Suhtautuminen koiraan oli kiitettävää. Se, että huoneesta oli pelkkä ovi naapurihuoneeseen, orjuutti koiranomistaajaa: häiritseekö koiran haukkuminen naapurihuoneen asukasta. Aamiainen oli hyvä, samoin ala carte-annokset, jotka söimme. Sauna oli hyvä. Ympäristö oli kuin suoraan satukirjasta.

Luontoa ja rauhaa

Vietimme kaksi yötä hotellissa, viihdyimme oikein hyvin ja paikassa oli tällä kertaa rauhallista. Saunassa ja ulkoporeammeessa tuli käytyä molempina iltoina ja Talvisotamuseo joka sijaitsee aivan naapurissa on suosituksen arvoinen. Hotellilla on oma ranta josta pääsee hyvin uimaan, ranta on loivahko ja rappuset takaisin saunalle/altaille. Aamiaisvalikoima ei ollut valtava mutta täysin riittävä ja laadukas, vähemmän on joskus enemmän. Emme itse nyt käyttäneet mutta kuulimme muilta vierailta että hotellin kautta voi varata aktiviteetteja mm. karhujen spottausta jne.

Hotelli on komealla paikalla. Hieman jo kulahtuneisuutta. Näillä helteillä, ja muulloinkin, pieni jääkaappi huoneessa olisi paikallaan. Saunan aukiolo hieman kiusallinen, auki klo 18-20. Kuitenkin kun tulimme kierrokselta klo 21 maissa, joku pariskunta tuli ehkä saunasta, ainakin heillä oli kylpytakit yllään. Mutta oli hyvä herätä järveä ihaillen.

Hotelli on puhdas ja siisti. "Sisustus" jämähtänyt 80-luvulle ja kulahtanut. Hyviä elementtejä olisi ollut, omat kädet syyhysivät innosta alkaa järjestelemään sisustusta. Ruoka- annoksissa 10e liikaa hintaa, tien toiselta puolelta saa sensijaan loistavia burgereita. Palvelu oli pääasiassa hyvää, yhtä pientä epäkorrektiutta lukuunottamatta.

Worst experience ever

Though the hotel clerk was nice (they close 23 but let us in 23:15) this hotel must be the worst ever by Nordic standards. Its like a time travel to the early 90s. You can hear the neighbour breathe - thats how poorly isolated it is. But thats not the contributing factor to my 1 star. The reason is that it was a party in the neighbour room. The clerk asked them to be quiet and left - then after 30 minutes the party started again full blown. Drunk people in the hallway screaming, swearing and banging on the walls. And NO SECURITY. We could have been murdered in that hallway and noone would notice as it is not any security cameras. I travelled there with my 10 year old son and we could not sleep before 03-04 in the night. My son was of course uneasy because of this aggressive screaming in the hallway. We also of course missed breakfast because of that and slept till 11 even more tired than before we arrived. Totally overpriced hotel that should get competition from some cheap modern hotels. Its not that: I would gladly pay 200EUR for a Nordic Choice room and I expected this standard when I ordered the room. Will recommend everyone to choose another alternative - even camping - even sleeping in your car. The interior of the room and hotel is at best 2 star quality. And to end this disaster review - why the hell did the clerk give us a room right beside a party when he could see I have a 10 year old child with me??? Sick.

Mukava paikka

Mukava hiljainen paikka. Palvelutaso on hieman kapeampi kuin suurkaupunkien hotelleissa, mutta vastapainona on luonnon läheisyys joka on huikea! Hotelli itsessään perustasoa, mutta on persoonallinen positiivisessa mielessä. Jos olet pohjoiseen menossa, niin Kuhmo ja sen luonto kannattaa kokea matkalla!

Siisti ja rauhallinen paikka yöpyä.

Asiallinen hotelli. Ilmastointi lienee painovoimainen, sillä huoneen ilma voisi vaihtua vähän tehokkaammin. WC/suihkutilan toteutuksessa puutteita. Lavuaari on peilikaapin alla syvennyksessä ja ”necessary bag”ille ei ole missään laskutilaa.
