The romantic Frisian cottage “Kieke Wiet” (Low German for “wide view”) is a lovingly restored Frisian cottage with a very special charm. It’s located in the quiet, picturesque village of Manslagt, just about 4 km from Greetsiel and roughly 1.5 km from the North Sea dike. Surrounded by old farms, the historic church with its freestanding bell tower, and narrow alleys lined with quaint Frisian houses, you’ll experience the true idyll of an East Frisian village here.

Built in the 18th century and carefully modernised, this holiday home offers a successful blend of historic character and modern living comfort. The old wooden beams and traditional bull’s-eye windows give the house its special charm, while high-quality amenities ensure a relaxing holiday.

On the ground floor is the cosy living area with a wood-burning stove and TV, which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, especially on cooler days. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, refrigerator with freezer compartment, stove, oven, and all essential cooking utensils—here you can easily prepare your favourite meals. Adjacent to it, the small dining room with a farmhouse-style nook invites you to enjoy meals together and relax. Also on the ground floor are the bedroom with a romantic farmhouse canopy bed (approx. 1.35 m wide; can accommodate a 6th person) as well as the bathroom with a walk-in shower and hair dryer.

A steeper staircase leads to the attic, where you’ll find a spacious bedroom with a double bed (1.80 x 2.00 m) and two single beds (each 0.80 x 2.00 m). Here, too, a small, additional TV ensures your comfort. All rooms are bright and inviting—the ground floor features tile flooring, while the upper floor has cosy wooden floorboards. The main windows are equipped with fly screens and blackout curtains.

The fenced-in garden, complete with patio furniture, a parasol, lounge chairs, and a grill, invites you to relax and offers a magnificent view across the meadows. There is also a storage shed for bicycles, and Wi-Fi is, of course, available (we cannot guarantee unrestricted availability or sufficient speed). A parking space is located right next to the house.

Up to 2 dogs are also welcome at “Kieke Wiet”—it’s just a few steps to the nearest field.

Please note: This historic Frisian house was built around 1770, so some of the ceilings are lower than in modern homes. However, the special charm of this old building makes “Kieke Wiet” a unique retreat—perfect for anyone seeking peace, cosiness, and the authentic East Frisian atmosphere.
