Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Křivoklát?
The best area to stay in Křivoklát is directly within the village of Křivoklát, particularly close to the Křivoklát Castle.

This small village is dominated by the majestic Křivoklát Castle, which sits prominently on a hill overlooking the Rakovnický Stream. The area immediately surrounding the castle features a few guesthouses and local eateries, offering a very convenient base for exploring the castle and the surrounding Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. It's a compact area, making everything easily accessible on foot.

For couples seeking a romantic getaway, staying near the castle offers an unparalleled experience. You'll be just steps away from the historic fortress, allowing for early morning or late evening strolls around its impressive grounds. The quiet surroundings and natural beauty of the protected landscape provide a peaceful backdrop for a relaxing trip together.

Families will also find this area suitable due to its direct access to the castle, which often hosts events and tours appealing to all ages.
When is the best time to go to Křivoklát?
The best time to visit Křivoklát is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather, making it ideal for exploring the castle and its surrounding natural beauty without the heat of summer or the chill of winter. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed visit to the castle and the charming village. Spring brings blooming flowers and lush greenery, while autumn showcases beautiful foliage.

Couples looking for a romantic and tranquil escape will particularly appreciate spring and autumn. The mild weather is great for leisurely walks through the Křivoklát Forest, exploring the castle's courtyards, and enjoying the local pubs and restaurants without the bustle of peak tourist season. The picturesque landscapes provide an ideal backdrop for a relaxed trip.

Families with older children might also find these seasons more enjoyable. The cooler temperatures are more conducive to exploring the castle's many rooms and towers, and there's ample space for children to run around in the castle grounds or the nearby forest trails.
