Villa Karamoja nestles in a green haven of peace and tranquillity, perched on a bluff with one hundred and eighty-degree views over Koggala Lake. The house is set in a secluded one-acre garden with abundant wildlife. The colonial-style house was designed with many reclaimed architectural features.

Villa Services & Staff
The Villa offers 3 double bedrooms including one twin room, all en suite and air-conditioned with antique four-poster beds, a fully equipped kitchen and a sitting room with plenty of al fresco dining options on the wraparound veranda or in the terraced gardens stocked with mango trees, frangipani, hibiscus and cinnamon. Further, there is a Carbon Monoxide Detector & Alarm Equipment.
The property is staffed with an English speaking house manager who also cooks and a gardener. There is a staff bungalow on-site, so there is always someone on site.
A private driver can be arranged on request for Airport transfers and for local tours. Also can have tuk-tuks easily to explore local tourist sites, beaches and restaurants or take a train to Galle or Matara. Airport transfers can be arranged. Massages, yoga trainers and baby sitters can be arranged on request.
The breakfast is included in the rate. Additional meals can also be agreed with Prasad for a price of Rs. 3,000 per meal, plus the cost of the ingredients. Prasad is a great cook and all meals are made from scratch using local produce and spices. Here are a few suggestions for lunch or dinner.
Free Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth speaker (Bose wireless music system), TV, DVD Player with DVDs, BBQ facilities, a baby cot and two bicycles are also available. Spa facilities, Yoga trainers and transport facilities can be arranged on request. The villa has an emergency back generator.
Individual rooms also can be rented based on availability except for the high season (20th Dec to 10th Jan). Please contact us to check the availability and rates.

  • Ritipanna is the Sinhalese term for stilt fishing, which is a traditional method for fishing practiced by most fishermen along the southern coast of Sri Lanka. This art is popularly seen in areas such as Ahangama, Koggala, Welipenna, Kathaluwa and Thalarambe. A narrow pole is tied to a stick that is anchored on the sea bed. Fisher folk climb onto this stick and settle on the pole for a few hours in an effort to catch some fish. Fishermen found on stilts are those who do not have access to sophisticated equipment for fishing. These men can make a living simply with the help of two wooden poles to make a stilt. One pole is nailed onto the sea bed and the other is placed like a cross bar and acts as a plank for the fishermen to sit on. Each stilt can accommodate only one fisherman. For catching fish, they create a rod made of Kithul, and a small plastic bag is tied around their waist to hold the fish that they catch. With one hand they hold onto the stilt and with the other they hold the rod that catches fish. The tradition of stilt fishing will always be practiced by those who cannot afford to invest in modern fishing equipment. #likealocal
