  • Ritipanna is the Sinhalese term for stilt fishing, which is a traditional method for fishing practiced by most fishermen along the southern coast of Sri Lanka. This art is popularly seen in areas such as Ahangama, Koggala, Welipenna, Kathaluwa and Thalarambe. A narrow pole is tied to a stick that is anchored on the sea bed. Fisher folk climb onto this stick and settle on the pole for a few hours in an effort to catch some fish. Fishermen found on stilts are those who do not have access to sophisticated equipment for fishing. These men can make a living simply with the help of two wooden poles to make a stilt. One pole is nailed onto the sea bed and the other is placed like a cross bar and acts as a plank for the fishermen to sit on. Each stilt can accommodate only one fisherman. For catching fish, they create a rod made of Kithul, and a small plastic bag is tied around their waist to hold the fish that they catch. With one hand they hold onto the stilt and with the other they hold the rod that catches fish. The tradition of stilt fishing will always be practiced by those who cannot afford to invest in modern fishing equipment. #likealocal

Had a great stay! Alot of staff available at all times(I hope you get more customers as soon as possible)! Good food and service! Two different pools, close to the beach(the staff even walked with us to find the entrance to the beach, and gave us towels from the hotel).

Персонал - прекрасно Чистота - прекрасно Кухня - хорошо Расположение - неудачное. Рядом железная дорога, и проходящие поезда (в сутки раз 6-7) прилично шумят, в том числе ночью.

The hotel between rail and highway with nice beach

There is a hotel in relatively small spot (100m) between 4 lane highway and rail. A breakfast served was constant, so if you're an egg fan - welcome You need to cross 4 lane road to reach the beach. The beach is perfect both for swimming and surfing There is no SPA

Very nice hotel with really good service. Location is really close to beach. Only disappointment was our room was near to railway bridge, hence to much of noise.

Bon hotel

Nous avions une chambre vue sur lac. Elle est grande, moderne, avec une belle salle de bain. Mauvaise insonorisation. De plus, la ligne de chemin de fer passe juste derrière. Le petit déjeuner est top! La piscine est très agréable.

Jättefint hotell och fantastisk pool. Vänlig och hjälpsam personal. Bara att gå över vägen så är man på stranden. Kan varmt rekommendera detta hotell!
