Excellent location, just minutes on foot from the Opera, world-famous cafés, museums, shopping, the casino, public transportation, and a lively stretch of restaurants and eateries set along the broad median between the main traffic lanes. The rooms and bathrooms are adequate, clean, and renovated—most importantly, without the musty or stale odors that can occasionally be an unwelcome “European special.” The bathroom design could be better, however, as taking a shower tends to leave water splashed across much of the floor. Service is efficient but more businesslike than welcoming, with little of the warmth one might hope for as a tourist. Breakfast is available but somewhat pricey. A little more warmth and hospitality would easily have elevated this to a five-star experience. Otherwise, a perfectly adequate but somewhat nondescript stay.

Looks like it's just been completely refurbished. Room/bathroom was great in all respects, including an efficient air con which often one doesn't get in Europe, but since it's Austria, where everything works, maybe I shouldn't be surprised. Room looked in to the courtyard, itself spotless, which ws preferable since there's no real exterior view due to the hotel's location. Staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful. Bar was a pleasant place to be but we chose to eat out all the time so no comments on the restaurant although some food we saw passing by looked good. Hotel is about 200 meters from the Taborstr. U-Bahn station and of course there are trams, but city centre was a nice 15 minute walk. Summary - one of the most satisfying hotels I have stayed in. Period.
