Minutes from stunning shoreline views and the Bay of Fundy, this hub for the apple industry captures Nova Scotia’s character.

Kingston, in the central Annapolis Valley, remains a village with charm and a seaside culture. Its pleasant array of activities makes it ideal as a destination or as a base from which to explore the rest of Nova Scotia. Navigate the quiet waters of the Annapolis River by canoe or kayak. Go lighthouse hunting along the coast of Nova Scotia. Stand inches from a capybara at the Oaklawn Farm Zoo.

The cultural attractions around Kingston show the area’s rich history. Visit the 19th-century storefront that has been converted to the Apple Capital Museum, less than a 15-minute drive from Kingston. Learn about the tools and history of the apple trade, which has sustained this community. Sample a glass of the naturally sweet homemade apple cider.

If you have time to see only one thing near Kingston, make it the Bay of Fundy. This formation has some of the largest tidal ranges in the world, with an ebb and flow of nearly 49 feet (15 metres). During low tide, explore the undersides of its basaltic mountain ranges. The erosion they have experienced from standing waves gives them a remarkable willowy appearance.

Base yourself in Kingston during a stay in Nova Scotia. The village has several hotels and other accommodation within 1 mile (2 kilometres) of its centre. Surprising for the town’s small size, Kingston’s restaurant selection is diverse enough for a weekend of culinary variety. Buy fresh-baked baguettes at a lovely French bakery and have coffee with locals at a café.

Drive 93 miles (150 kilometres) from Halifax Airport to reach Kingston. The village is connected with the town of Greenwood on the opposite side of the Canadian Forces Base. There, find a shopping mall and more lodging options. The Greenwood Military Aviation Museum is also full of perfectly preserved retired service aircrafts, an impressive collection.

Come see why Canadians are proud of Nova Scotia. Stay to enjoy the peaceful village of Kingston.
