"The place was disgusting / dirty / run down. The rooms smelled awful. The pool was a joke - I wouldn't even let my daughter put her feet in. The reviews/pictures for this hotel do not match at all. Usually AmericInn hotels are pretty great - but this one not so much. I ended up leaving. "
"First few times we stayed here it was excellent, but this time around made us question if we will be back. Room was decent but the sheets were kind of dirty, and the fridge didn't seem to work. While in the pool with our kids their was something questionable floating on the bottom of the pool that honestly looked like pieces of feces, but the floor around the pool had multiple spots with missing rocks, so it could have been those as well, of course was not going to check it out for ourselves so we left. During this time in the pool, we also spent time in the hot tub, at which point we noticed small ants dead around the perimeter as well as live ants crawling around it as well."
"For $160/night I expected a lot more—my room had a ‘dog house’ theme with painted furniture and a poorly painted dog house headboard. Free breakfast had a lot to be desired—nothing warm except for waffles…. It was clean and front desk folks were friendly."
"We very much enjoyed our brief getaway to Maple Lake, thanks in large part to this charming cottage. Historic high temperatures allowed us to enjoy ample hiking at nearby Lake Maria State Park as well as atop Mink Lake itself. We relaxed on the deck, dined on scallops, and made a campfire under the stars. In the morning, we were greeted by a pair of trumpeter swans on the lake. They sunbathed for several hours. It was a great way to start our Sunday! Thanks for a memorable stay!"
Beachfront Cabin with Lake Views & Harry Potter Room
10/10 Excellent
"Wonderful, clean and comfortable house with everything that we needed for a girlfriend weekend. We had a very relaxing stay, loved the view and although it was cold outside, we were cozy and warm inside. Our host was quick to respond and made our stay a very memorable one! We would definitely stay again! "
"Pretty horrible experience. The house smelled horribly of sewer. We contacted the host and was told that the cleaning lady never mentioned the smell and to run water in the drains. We did however, the smell permeated throughout the house the entire stay. The host did not contact us after we reported it to check on us. Four of us left feeling very ill. We also tried to use the oven however that had oven cleaner still caked on it. That also smelled horrible and we were not able to use the oven. Very disappointed in the whole situation. This was our second time renting this place and we were very disappointed. "
Cozy Clean Waterfront Cabin on Sugar Lake - Ice Fishing, Ski/Snowboard Nearby
8/10 Good
"Great place! Clean, comfortable, easy location from Minneapolis. The ONLY reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because I was looking forward to fireplace. It’s out of order and wouldn’t have rented if I knew that. Bummer but will ask about order of amenities the next time I book. 1000% would rent in any other season than coldest part of winter. If a fireplace isn’t important to you this place is fabulous!!!"
