Lovely place to stay

A lovely place to stay. The place was spotlessly clean. Got a very warm welcome from the owner - nothing too much trouble - when I had to start work very early one day the owner kindly made me a tasty "breakfast bag" so I didn't miss out. Regular breakfasts always very tasty too. Would definitely come back - a little gem.

The property from outside is stunning, lovely garden at the back. Inside is very welcoming, clean and tidy. Due to Covid the check-in system is different, gives you less of a personal feel, but honestly it is done to be safe, so wasn't an issue for us. Spacious room, plenty of storage for any length of stay. Great location, peaceful and quiet outside yet close enough to walk into Keswick centre and back without feeling you've walked the whole lakes. The only side I'd say was a frustration was the lack of outdoor smoking/vaping area. I do appreciate why, however is not the nicest having to stand in a dark lane to have a vape.

We had a lovely big room with a large bathroom and roll top bath though we noted some damp on the bedroom walls. Hotel was in a good location at the far end of Keswick and we enjoyed the 10minute walk in and out. We felt we weren’t really offered a hotel service though; the owners were not present at all and only made themselves available if we needed to phone them or ring the buzzer. Our key was left in an envelope for us to pick up on arrival and we had to drop it in a box on departure - it might have been nice to have been greeted in person or asked if we enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and there was no room service for that time, we had to leave our towels and bin outside the room if we wanted them changed or emptied. There was no bar service (it was closed though we could take our own drinks there if we wanted) and no breakfast though we had the option to have a minimal and overpriced continental breakfast delivered to our room - we declined this. To be fair, the hotel had emailed us in advance to tell us that all of the above would be the case due to Covid and, although it didn’t cause us any problems, in reality it was just all a bit strange. Considering we were staying in and paying for a hotel, it was really just a room and not a hotel service.

Don’t Go

This is the worst experience we have ever had in a hotel. No meet and greet, never seen anybody who had anything to do with the hotel for the duration we were there. Your room key was in an envelope with your name on it, having got your room number there are no signs to tell you where it is, so you have to search for it. Our room such as it was had a bed a dresser and a chair. The TV we did not try. Bathroom had a wash basin, toilet and bath. The shower was hand held that we could not use because the room was in the roof space so you could not stand up in the bath plus there was no shower curtain. Our overall impression that the hotel is just making money with the minimum amount of service. At nearly £150 per night just for a bed. No breakfast but tea and coffee are in the room if you want to use it.

Weekend Break in Keswick for Mountain Festival

Had a nice short stay at the Lairbeck Hotel. Booked here for the Lakes Mountain Festival and benefitted from the free on site parking, especially as we were allowed to park up there prior to 4pm check-in on the Saturday which allowed us to spend the day in Keswick which was just a 20-25 minutes walk away. We stayed in the four poster bedroom which was comfortable and well appointed. Decor was in keeping with the rooms style. Had all the amenities you would need plus free WiFi which worked well. Due to covid, check in was all done remotely with good communication throughout. Keys in reception as planned on our arrival. Shame the restrictions meant no breakfast included but kettle in room with adequate coffee/tea/milk/biscuits supply sufficed with plenty of cafés in the town centre. Overall good experience.

Quiet relaxing place to stay

Relaxing and quiet stay, many restrictions due to Covid eg no breakfast or bar but these were detailed in a document beforehand so not a problem. Internet connection was limited but otherwise a nice little room for a solo traveller. Good location just 15/20 minutes walk from town centre.

It was a decent place for a base. A pub for dining or drinking a couple of hundred metres away. The hotel was clean and comfortable and free parking. very happy

Lovely, simple base for exploring Lake District

Lovely place within walking distance of central Keswick. Stayed in lovely single room with view of garden and wonderful light. Only gripes would be poor/non-existent mobile coverage and very poor internet. Note that this room had a bathtub with no option to use as a shower. I’m guessing because of Covid, at present no breakfast or other food options at hotel.

Over the top with Covid measures and correspondence made the experience less enjoyable. Other well known hotel chains taking precations but nowhere near this level. Maybe its because its an older peoples venue they are taking safety levels like a care home would.

Comfy bed. Lovey views from the room which was large with plenty of space. Hotel was peaceful and quiet. Well organised with COVID 19. On the other hand Shower is outdated, and for the price I would of expected breakfast included.

Quiet corner of bustling town

The hotel has a great location provided you don'y mind a 10 minute stroll into town - it has free parking which is rare in Keswick and a nice garden area to chill out in - no fell views but very attractive. Our room - 5 - was huge and bright with a large bay window. Staff were friendly and keen to help. The Pheasant Inn is round the corner - good pub food - and the hotel has an honesty bar. The hotel is also on the 'right' side of the town i.e. you do not have to go through the slow traffic in the centre in busy periods to access the A66 and the rest of the Lakes. Skiddaw is walkable from the hotel - give yourself the whole day! Recommended.

Fantastic stay.

Excellent. The hosts are friendly and helpful, the location is perfect, a short walk from town but away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Clean rooms, good breakfast and great facilities.

Gorgeous Lake District Stay

We arrived in the United Kingdom the day British Airways experienced a total systems failure and ended up stuck in Heathrow Airport for over 10 hours before taking a train north to Aberdeen (where our son attended university). We spent our first full day in the UK buying clothing and other necessary items (our checked bags were still stuck in London) so we could embark on the trip that we had planned for the next 3 weeks. The Lake District and the Lairbeck Hotel was our first stop, and it couldn't have been a more perfect experience after the chaos and stress of our arrival. It was fantastic, the room gorgeous, and the setting stunning. Restful. Complete comfort. Perfect. And much appreciated. It helped set the tone for the rest of our trip, which was fabulous.
