"If you are like us a middle-aged backpacker, who wants to enjoy the beach in East Java, Pulau Merah there are better options in the town than this hotel. The hotel lies a little off from the village, but just a stone throw away from the beach! It does have breakfast served to your room and they have a biljard pool and very helpful staff, but other than that I’d choose for a different option more in the center."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kesilir?
The best area to stay in Kesilir is along the main coastal road, particularly around Pantai Kesilir (Kesilir Beach) and extending slightly north and south.

This area is the heart of Kesilir for visitors, offering direct access to the beach and the main stretch of local eateries and guesthouses. The road runs parallel to the coastline, providing easy access to the sand and sea, and you'll find most amenities within a short walk.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach getaway will find this area ideal. You can enjoy strolls along Pantai Kesilir, watch the local fishermen, and dine at the beachfront warungs (small, family-run restaurants) that offer fresh seafood. The pace here is unhurried, great for unwinding.

For solo travellers seeking a peaceful retreat with opportunities for gentle exploration, staying near Pantai Kesilir is also an excellent option.
When is the best time to go to Kesilir?
The best time to go to Kesilir is during the dry season, which typically runs from May to September.

During these months, you'll experience consistently warm, sunny weather with very little rain, making it ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. This period offers the most reliable conditions for exploring the local area and participating in water sports.

For those looking to enjoy surfing, the dry season often brings the most consistent swells, especially between June and August. The ocean conditions are generally calmer outside of the surf breaks, making it pleasant for swimming and snorkelling.

If you prefer to avoid the peak tourist crowds and potentially find better value on accommodation, the shoulder months of May and September are excellent choices.
