Marie’s cabin was exactly what we hoped for — it was both spacious enough for us to spread out while being incredibly cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Marie’s cabin was exactly what we were looking for for our fall vacation. The cabin was comfortable, homey and VERY clean. It was the best combination of being rustic but not too rustic (for example it has a very modern updated kitchen). We spent a lot of time in the cabin cooking meals and enjoying warm fires in the family room. Beginning with our first communication, Marie encouraged us to feel at home in her cabin, which was very easy to do. She is a fabulous host. The location was quiet and peaceful but still near hiking, eating and other activities. We had a wonderful vacation and would not hesitate to stay here again.
We visit this area annually and have stayed in a few B&B or similar over the years. What attracted us to this property was it's proximity to all of our favorite places or things to do but we were overwhelmed with it's charm and comfort. We did not want for anything, everything was perfect. There is plenty of space to spread out & relax with all the comforts of home. We look forward to future stays at this property. Marie was a pleasure to communicate with and was sure to check in with us before & after our stay. This is a perfect romantic or family getaway, cannot say enough about it.
Spending a week in this log house was a welcome respite from the city. Super quiet, stress just shrugged off here. All 4 bedrooms have an a/c unit, kitchen is fully stocked, internet and a CEO’s desk made WFH easy. And this house was central to day or evening trips to New Paltz, Mohonk, Ashokan Reservoir, Woodstock. We went hiking and walking, and found satisfying restaurants locally or in larger towns, 20-60 minutes away, every night! Can’t say enough about how easy it was dealing with the host. She’s right — we spent quality time right on her huge front porch!
My wife and I had been working remotely without a break for over a year, and since we weren’t due for a break any time soon, desired a change of environment. We wanted a peaceful, beautiful location with fast internet—a tough combination. Marie’s place was all that and more. She provides everything you might need for a peaceful getaway while including every amenity, including the fastest internet available, with download speeds approaching a gigabit. More importantly, her cabin is a slice of heaven. We were greeted by the smells of fresh mountain air as soon as we got out of the car, along with gentle and beguiling sounds of birds and cicadas. The furnishing and decor were all of very good quality, but more importantly, they reflected the sensibilities and soul of generations of lives that have vacationed here for many years. In other words, this was no generic vacation rental. Marie opens her world to you, and being in her cabin has all the warmth and comfort of coming home. The house is full of many precious mementos and charming decor. She has musical instruments available (of which my son made good use), games and jigsaw puzzles, a glider on the porch, and a hammock hanging in front. Inside the log cabin was a quiet as a church, and on the warm September days we stayed there, always much cooler than outdoors. The peacefulness is profound: hardly a single vehicle of any kind passes by for hours at a time. While my wife and I worked, my son lay in the hammock out front, noodling on the guitar. This is a place to come to if your nerves are frayed and you need spiritual R & R, and we were very glad we did. We hope to come again.
Great location for a quiet escape, with quick access to hiking trails. Property was very clean, cozy and homey with a retro vibe, with all the urban amenities, and fully equipped. The cabin is the host's second home, so we really felt like we were visiting them. Great internet connection for remote work. The host communicated with us immediately after we made the reservation, and she gave us all the details about the cabin and the places in the area (grocery stores, restaurants, touristic hotspots). The property is secluded and about 6 miles from the main road, so the grocery stores are about 20 minutes away along route 209. Not many take-out places. Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed the log cabin and its surroundings.
We had a great extended stay at Marie’s cabin in the woods. It’s an idyllic location and the check in process and Marie’s hospitality is unmatched. Would look forward to staying here again!
Marie’s cabin is a cozy, homey getaway nestled in the gentle woods of Ulster County. We had everything we needed in the home, and plenty of room for the three of us to spread out. The WiFi was solid, some of the best we’ve had in a rental, and the TV streaming channels worked great. Commerce isn’t super close (from a city person’s point of view :)), so you might want to bring a load of groceries when you arrive especially in winter months. Ulster County is a very pretty area if you don’t know it - each day’s drive was lovelier than the one the day before. Each day trip was 30-40 minutes max. Cross-country skiing in Minnewaska State Park and on the rail trail near New Paltz is just terrific. You can get $29 day passes for trail-only access at Mohonk if you bring your own equipment - it’s a bit of a well-kept secret so dig around on their website for it, or pick up a card with a QR code at the guard’s gate at Mohonk. We also enjoyed checking out downhill at Belleayre Mountain. Nice day trips to Kingston, where there are good açaí bowls, locally roasted coffee, nice views, and excellent thrifting! Check out the Kingston Consignments shop in the Stockade district - great for clothes, home stuff and lots of mid-century finds. Good selection and good prices. The tavern across the street offers a solid lunch.
I visited with my business partner for a branding retreat, escaping the city. It was the perfect place for us, and we got a lot done. The kitchen and the fireplace became the centers of the house for us. Marie was an excellent host, and I’ll look forward to staying at her home again.
The story is short and sweet, a close friend and I came to the cabin to sort out what we felt for one another. We went up to the mountains and came down in love. The cabin was perfect for us. Tucked away in the forest, surrounded by nature, a fire place, a swing, a fully stocked kitchen, we played house—everything was perfect. We didn’t take a car, and Uber wasn’t available but thanks to CJ Cab Service we were able to get around. I highly recommended this cabin and location. Thank you, Marie we hope to return sometime in the future.
This place was exactly what we needed to get away from the city and spend some time hiking. The kitchen earns the description as being "gourmet"; we cooked every night and it had every gadget, utensil, and spice we needed; plus an outdoor grille. It is so cozy - we LOVED the porch swing and the hammock. It is centrally located to such wonderful farms, running/walking trails, breweries and hikes - so much entertainment in just a short drive!
Very comfortable well maintained and updated home. Peaceful! Need a break from the city? I did! What an oasis of peace and quiet! Fully stocked modern kitchen and great outdoor bbq space! No need to go anywhere! I feel great! Thank you Marie for sharing your beautiful home!
