I recently stayed at Posada Rio Celeste for 2 nights with my husband and 3 friends. This is a very special place. After reading other reviews, we knew going in that the rooms would be "rustic," so that didn't bother us. Yes, the walls are extremely thin and there are a lot of bugs (but there's mosquito netting around the beds, so that's good). Just bring earplugs, bug spray, and go in with the mindset that you'll basically be at a nice camping facility (with your own bathroom and hot water for each room) and you'll be set. What makes this place so special is the family and staff that run the place. Upon arrival, you can immediately tell that this is a family-run place, and that the whole enterprise is a labor of love. The home cooking is simple and delicious, there's a wonderful garden outside with talking parrots, and a few friendly dogs that wander in and out of the outdoor dining area. You really feel like you're part of daily life here, and the setting is very peaceful. You can hang out in the shaded outdoor dining area at any time--we spent hours drinking beers and playing board games at the end of the day. Also, it's only a 1 km walk to the park entrance, so the location is super convenient for the main attraction in the area. Overall, our stay at Posada Rio Celeste with friends was one of our favorite experiences in Costa Rica.
