"this castello (castle) is a gem of a special place and time. visit www.castellobeccaria.it for more information of the astounding history - a place where Giovanni de'Medici who became pope Leo X in 1513 - 1521 was staying as well. Giovanna and Silvio the owners will happily show and tell you all about it. Silvio - 3rd generation owner - and his wonderful wife Giovanna are working hard to restore the castle to its former beauty and incorporate beautiful guest rooms with modern amenities. Giovanna will surprise you with a cooked to order breakfast and serves it to you personally. We were very, very lucky and happy to find this place on our trip to Florence. Hopefully we will be able to come back for a longer stay. The surrounding town is one of the most restaurated small towns in the area and the couple recommended us to a great restaurant nearby for dinner. "Not at all what we expected. The property is a very old, poorly maintained large house. The arrangement is not very sensible as the rooms opened right into the breakfast room which was also the owners living room or office. It was an extremely casual BnB shall we say. But not very comfortable or cozy. We left as easily as possible. The food was really good, however. But the dinner service was clearly straining the staff. "
