The best area to stay in Kanol is the village centre itself, particularly around the main square and the paths leading to the temple.

This area is the heart of Kanol and offers a traditional mountain village experience. You'll find local guesthouses and homestays scattered along the winding paths, often with views of the surrounding Himalayas. The main square is where villagers gather, and you'll find small shops selling essentials and local produce.

For solo travellers looking for a peaceful retreat and a connection with local culture, staying within the village centre is ideal. It provides an authentic experience, allowing you to easily interact with residents and explore the natural beauty of the area on foot. Many guesthouses here offer home-cooked meals, adding to the local experience.

Couples seeking a quiet escape and a chance to experience rural Indian life will also find the village centre appealing. The tranquil surroundings and the opportunity for scenic walks through terraced fields and pine forests make it a relaxing choice.

The best time to go to Kanol is generally between March and June, or from September to November, to experience pleasant weather conditions.

The spring and early summer months, from March to June, offer clear skies and comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This period is ideal for outdoor activities like trekking and exploring the natural beauty of the region, as the flora is in full bloom. It's also a good time for those who enjoy hiking without the intensity of the summer heat or monsoon rains.

Alternatively, the post-monsoon months of September to November are also excellent. The monsoon season, from July to August, brings heavy rainfall, which can make travel difficult and obstruct views.
