The story of Old Camp is interesting and the area behind is interesting for hiking. It is far from the airport which makes it s little complicated. But we only met nice and helpful people so it was a great experience

Old Camp is exactly as it describes itself: basic shared facilities in a spectacular setting. The rooms are functional and very clean. The shared areas are useful and comfortable. The staff is outstanding! There is regular transportation to the other end of town, but the walk is easy, peaceful, and lovely. And even though Kangerlussuaq is small, staying in Old Camp feels more like getting out into the country.

It’s located a bit far from the airport but they provide free shuttle service to coordinate with your flights and if you book tours with them, they also offer free pick up so you don’t need to worry about the location being distant. The room is spacious and clean. Shared toilet/shower room is also clean all the time with dry area to hang your clothes and stuffs. They also offer free breakfast which is sufficient to start your day. There is also souvenirs shop at the reception in case you would like to have some gifts. Staffs were helpful and friendly. Bonus point is that this place is perfect for you if you want to see Northern Light because it’s far from town and air pollution. There is no guarantee but for me I would love to have a higher chance. To me this place is perfect for my stay in Kangerlussuaq, definitely will stay here again on my next visit :)

The building is too old and the key does not close. After all, I stayed without closing the key. Even though the service is poor, the accommodation fee is too high. I think the price of 1/3 is a reasonable price. After breakfast, if I was brought back to the receptionist, I was a very disgusting feeling that the male staff who had been in the breakfast site was evident in an unexpected attitude. I was going to return properly. I am not a thief. It was very disappointing. Breakfast was quite expected, but thanks because it was hungry. The transfer bus was also nice! The vast wilderness was amazing and very uncomfortable!

Old Camp is perfect if you just need a place to crash between hiking and excursions or as a base camp before backpacking. Small simple rooms, and it’s a hostel so bathrooms and kitchen space are shared. We rarely had to wait for bathrooms/showers, except one morning when our building ran out of water so we had to go next door while they refilled the tank. Breakfast is simple but reliable. Like most places in Greenland, the host is there during daytime hours only, so if you need things after hours it can be a little tricky, but they have helpful phone numbers listed in the common area. The person at reception was extremely helpful and accommodating. We had to change plans last minute, and she was able to help with changing both our hostel reservation and our activity reservation with Albatros. You can easily walk between Old Camp and the airport, though it would be a little challenging with bags. We opted for the city bus which goes to Old Camp once per hour.

Simple place for one night

This hostel is pretty outdated, but you get a fine place for a night or two in Kangerlussuaq. The walls are thin and you can hear everything that goes on in the corridors and in the nearby rooms. The bathrooms are large but I could have wished for a coat rack or shelf to put my towel and personal things on. Everything was very clean. Breakfast, linens and towels are included. The hostel is placed about 2 km from the airport and there is shuttleservice in the morning.

Hostel with minimal amenities but nothing crucial missing. The only challenge was regulating heat in the room on warmish nights, but we figured out how to block open the window so that it wouldn’t squeak or bang. I would definitely stay there again.

Great stay!

Great cozy lodge with free transportation to and from the airport. Rooms are small, but very comfortable. The free breakfast was simple, but delicious. Services generally good, and they do have a kitchen that you can use to prepare meals, though it is very far from the grocery store, so come prepared.
