Travellers looking for more convenience and local interaction will find the town centre a good fit. This area provides easier access to local markets and eateries, giving a better sense of daily life in Kalokol.

The best time to visit Kalokol is during the cooler, drier months of July and August.

During this period, the scorching desert heat is somewhat milder, making outdoor activities and exploring the region more comfortable. The skies are generally clear, and the winds are often gentler, which is ideal for activities on Lake Turkana.

For travellers interested in cultural experiences and interacting with local communities, these months often coincide with various traditional festivals and gatherings, offering a unique insight into the Turkana way of life. The slightly cooler temperatures make walking around and visiting villages more pleasant.

Wildlife enthusiasts will also find this a good time, as the reduced water sources mean animals tend to congregate around the lake, making them easier to spot.
