"The property is a little remote, its set up nicely as a retreat but didnt suit us. Food took a while to get served. Few insects in the room which made it difficult to sleep. "

"We had an excellent stay at this hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff were consistently helpful and friendly, making us feel very well looked after. The swimming pool was a great —perfect for a refreshing dip after climbing Sigiriya Rock. The hotel is in a slightly isolated location, but this wasn’t an issue for us and actually added to the peaceful atmosphere."

"The dining was open to the outdoors. For dinner there was a singer. For breakfast there was an omelet chef. It was quiet. In the morning an elephant walked by. Easy walking to the rock."

"Much nicer than photos show! The pool surrounds and bar area were lovely, perfectly framing Sigiriya Rock. The dining area and breakfast was excellent. The bed was comfortable. The shower was a little awkward to negotiate but overall fine. Staff were very friendly. "

"This was the best home stay we have ever experienced! Danesh and his family were so welcoming and helpful and it was lovely to get to know them over our 5 day stay. Danesh organised various activities for us including seeing wild elephants, a cooking class, and a bike ride. He also helped with booking tuk tuks and taxis whenever we needed. Our room was clean with air conditioning and hot water. The breakfasts were abundant and delicious. The communal area was beautiful and full of nature. Danesh was a genuine and truly inspiring person to meet, he cares so much about his community and advocates for protection of wildlife and sustainable tourism. He and his family are the loveliest people, we couldn’t recommend Otunna guest house more."

"Great view of the lake but a bit away from anywhere if you like to dine out. It was out of season so the in house menu options were limited and tourist focussed. Lovely breakfast and the room was great. "

"This was for sure one of the best experiences, this is not a hotel! You find a family in Sri Lanka! Mahenda and his family are the most kind people you could find. We miss them! The room is basic, a charming cabin with a great A.C, a refreshing pool good to relax after exploring, they can also cook a great meal for dinner,you can see peacocks beautiful birds all over this beautiful property. 💯 recommended "
