"A Convenient and Comfortable Stay in Utsunomiya
Whenever I visit Utsunomiya, I always choose Candeo Hotels Utsunomiya because of its unbeatable location. It's directly connected to Utsunomiya Station, making it incredibly convenient whether you're arriving by train or heading out for the day.
The room is spacious enough to fully open large suitcases, which is something I always appreciate. I especially like the long daybed by the window—it provides a comfortable place to relax, read, or simply enjoy the view.
The hotel is also connected to Utsunomiya Terrace, where you'll find a variety of restaurants and a supermarket, making meals and shopping extremely convenient.
The hotel has self-service washers and dryers, and payments can be made through a phone app, which is very convenient. However, the dryers cost ¥200 for every 10 minutes, so doing laundry can become a bit expensive.
Guests also have complimentary access to the Sky Spa on the top floor. While it's a beautiful facility, it's not a natural hot spring (onsen). During my three-night stay, I only visited it once because I found it more relaxing to soak in the bathtub in my own room rather than take the elevator up to the 14th floor.
The breakfast buffet was enjoyable, with a good variety of choices. My only suggestion would be to provide trays, as it would make it much easier to carry multiple dishes and drinks in one trip instead of making several trips back and forth."
"The location was great
Install translate before you go
Ask for a bus timetable and the free tickets you get as part of your stay
Uber does not work out near Nasu, no uber eats or car rides
Install go taxi, it's there uber equivalent
Food is scarce around the hotel so plan ahead and get food from the local shops, family marts are great, 7elevens are ok to
If you eat at the buffet restaurant at the hotel you need to book it as part of the hotel booking.
We did not and it cost me $214 (aud) for 2 adults and 1 child, we didn't know this ahead of time.
The hot springs / baths are a no cloths zone, kids 6 and older and men and woman are just all in the same water together naked, nothing against there culture it just wasn't for me.
There are claw machines absolutely everywhere in Japan so if your taking kids be sure to always have some coins on you, they range for 100¥ to 500¥
Nasu highlands park was amazing
Nasu safari park was good, very small but pretty cool getting up so close with so many animals."
"We really enjoyed staying at the cottage by a beautiful beach! It was clean, and the owners were very kind and helpful.
They speak both English and Japanese. We will definitely come back!
