"Love the vibe of this unique desert oasis. Low-key, relaxing, hospitable. Lovely cafe and unique bar. Pools of varying degrees complete a relaxing spa stay. Rooms comfortable and pool views with balconies sublime. Love the immaculate grounds surrounded by palms."

"Lots of potential but needs serious updates. The mold on the bathroom ceiling was painted over, but needed a re-do. With that said, staff was nice as could be and we enjoyed the hot pools at the end of each day."

"Room was fine. In a terrible area, and there is no one to check you in. You call a number on the door and talk to someone off site, who asks for your credit number over the phone. It was very weird. They give you a code to a lockbox (which is hidden) to get your room key.The property is in a terrible area and I did not feel safe. No room service and no one to ask. Do not book this place ! "

"This was a special trip for me and my two girls. After a long struggle with Long Covid, my older daughter is finally doing much better, and we wanted to celebrate.Joshua Tree Retreat was a wonderful place to escape to. The three‑bedroom home, filled with unique artwork, books, and colorful walls, felt truly special—definitely not your everyday VRBO. Dale’s stories about the history behind the artwork and books made exploring them even more meaningful. The numerous outdoor sitting areas, the hot tub, and the unbelievably beautiful pool offered peaceful places to relax and spend time together. Even working outdoors felt like a reprieve. And how refreshing to stay in a VRBO with a well‑stocked kitchen and quality cookware.The retreat is a short distance from both the North and West entrances to the park, making it easy to explore early and late in the day to avoid the heat. The Barker Dam and Hidden Valley hikes are great for everyone, but for me, seeing my daughter able to enjoy them again was incredibly gratifying. A sunset stroll inside the nearby park boundary—something Dale can give directions for—was also wonderful.Dale was kind enough to extend a late checkout for us, which allowed us to enjoy the morning, soak our feet in the pool, and then transition easily to meeting family later in the day in Palm Springs. We truly appreciated his understanding and the extra care."

"Underneath the bed was another guest's pair of used socks. The wallpaper was peeling and showed signs of mold beneath it. But the hot tub worked very well and was clean! However, we requested the Jungle room, called a week prior to confirm, and then showed up and was told it was not available. "

"Unfriendly staff, seemed like an annoyance that I was checking in. Bedding and towels old and ragged, looked clean at least. Sink plugged..wouldn’t drain in the morning. Need to be short to take a shower. Dirty walls noticed after being there. "
