Serene 1-bedroom lakeside cabin at the arctic circle perfect for a cozy getaway
Welcome to our secret little paradise. Do you dream of a complete nature experience in peace and quiet, far from civilization?
Welcome to our cozy log cabin by the lake, on a peninsula, in the middle of the forest, surrounded by pure wilderness, near the vast Swedish national parks of Sarek, Muddus, Padjelanta, and Stora Sjöfallet.
The Location
If you are drawn to wilderness landscapes, to the snow and miles of forests, to the mountains, the northern lights, or the midsummer sun—to the quiet, vast nature with its rich flora and fauna—then you are welcome here. A magical place with a cozy, simple wooden cabin. Ideal base for long hikes, canoe and kayak trips, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing. The surroundings are perfect for picking berries, fishing, hunting, and swimming in the lake.
Additional info:
• access to the jetty
• midnight sun, wild berries, and fishing
• excellent chance to see the Northern Lights
• A staircase leads to the sleeping loft with 3 beds:
• 1 bed 120 cm
• 1 bed 120 cm
• 1 bed 80 cm
• downstairs is a fold-out guest bed (70 cm)
• The kitchen is simple but fully equipped. Everything you need to prepare your own meals is provided. There is a new ceramic stove with a new oven, coffee maker, and kettle.
• There is a refrigerator with a small freezer compartment
• Available upon request: high chair, crib, changing pad, and toys for young children
- you can drive right up to the log cabin and park in front of the door.
- NOTES:
1. There is no shower or bathroom. There is no hot water.
2. There is no indoor toilet. Only an outhouse in a separate building (“outdoor dry toilet”).
3. The log cabin is heated with a wood-burning stove. We heat the cabin in advance for your arrival in the winter. It can be cold in the morning during the winter. You must be able to start a fire in the stove yourself.
4. Firewood to heat the log cabin is included. If desired, you can purchase extra firewood to build a fire outside.
5. There is no running water in the winter. We provide large jugs of drinking water.
6. No Wi-Fi, no fiber optic internet. However, there is good mobile data and 4G.
7. Bedding, sheets, and towels are not included. Available for rent upon request.
8. The 3-km access road is sometimes in poor condition in spring, summer, and fall after it has rained (lots of mud and potholes), but the road is passable with a standard passenger car. In winter, we clear the snow and the road is kept clear so you can drive on it easily.
Nearest shops, museums, restaurants, tourist information, and public transportation in Jokkmokk (20 km). Night train from Stockholm to Murjek. Bus from Murjek to Jokkmokk. We can pick you up at the Nattavaara train station or the Jokkmokk bus station for a fee.
The property covers a total of 3 hectares and features a large garden bordering the lake, surrounded by forest. We live in the first red house with our three young children. The surrounding forests are full of mushrooms and berries. There are excellent fishing opportunities. The lake is mainly used for fishing for perch and pike.
