"The staff was friendly & helpful. They are renovating & common areas are awful. The guest laundry was straight up disgusting both dirty & a bad odor. I found the bed comfortable & the accessory furniture appeared new. Towels also should be used as rags as most had stains. Would like to try again after renovations are complete to be fair."

"The rooms were up to date and appeared nice. Everything else (outside, hallways and entrance) was either nasty or under construction (for years it seems).
The outside of the hotel has spare parts, grills, beer bottles and junk everywhere. They would benefit greatly from building a shed to keep all of their junk and spare parts in.
We came back from a rainstorm and the 6 foot radius on the inside of our room around our door was flooded. I told the desk assistant and they said they are aware of it. This place didn’t seem to have that many guests, and There are so many rooms they could have put us in. So with that in mind, either all of the rooms are leaking or they just didn’t care to put us in a room that didn’t leak.
The breakfast was basically non-existent. They had very little food and the food they did have seemed to be leftovers from the day before and the orange juice dispenser seemed to be moldy.
This hotel has so much potential but they just seem to not care. Under the right direction this hotel could go from a 2 star to a 4 star with ease but I do not foresee this happening."
"Room smelled musty . you could tell the coffee pot was never cleaned. Breakfast was just ok never had chicken stripe served for breakfast?! Thought I was getting a potato wedge. Lol. For the money not worth the stay. And I believe no night staff on duty ."
"The entire main areaa of the motel smelled like a men’s locker room. The sheets and blankets were worn and scratchy and the pillows were very old and flat"
The Bootlegger’s Roost: Downtown, Hot Tub, Historic
10/10 Excellent
"I absolutely loved the unit. It was exactly as described and SO much more. This unit was very thoughtfully equipped and everything seemed brand new. I was so taken by the history of the original 1887 house and the work they have done to restore it. The old Carriage house was also restored and now serves as a garage with the rental unit above it. I love history and felt fully immersed by this property, the trees, the roads, and the City in general. All amazing!
I had friends visit me while there, my hosts were wonderful and expressed their willingness to do anything I needed for all of us to be comfortable and to enjoy our time together. I had my own patio, BBQ grille and hot tub.
The kitchen was perfect, probably over supplied, with dishes, pots & pans, brand new appliances, even plenty of snacks left for me. I cooked at least one meal every day while there. The bed was very, very comfortable. They even had a combo washer/dryer.
I arrived late at night and only needed the code for the electronic lock on the front door. My arrival was so easy!
I interacted with the hosts a couple of times during my stay; they were so warm and friendly; I departed with 2 new friends! I truly mean that!!
This was not just a stay. It was an experience. I felt like I took a step back in time. If you go, read the historical info provided in the room and investigate the charming history of Nebraska City. I've told all my friends, "This visit was MAGICAL!"
I'll be back for more!"
