Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, was born and raised in Johnson City and spent his retirement here. It’s the Historic Settlement, frontier home of President Johnson’s paternal grandparents! This Hill Country vacation home enjoys a close proximity to all the natural beauty that can only be found in Texas Hill Country. We’re located near the Pedernales River in Texas Wine Country and we’re within driving distance to Dripping Springs, Austin, Fredericksburg, Blanco, Burnet and San Antonio.

The Area
Pedernales Falls State Park
Just a 20 minute drive away, where you can hike, mountain bike, picnic, geocache, bird watch and ride horses. On the river, you can swim, wade, tube or fish. Look for local wildlife and plants at the bird blind and butterfly garden. Swimming: Access to the swimming area is a strenuous 1/4-mile (or more) hike, and includes steep rock stairs with no handrail.
Wine, Beer & Spirits Tasting
Johnson City is the Gateway to Texas Hill Country Wineries, Breweries and Distilleries. Your tasting adventures start here and go west towards Fredericksburg, Texas. Many of the most popular wineries are right on Texas Highway 290 “Wine Road”, which is the 2nd most-visited wine touring area in the world, next to the famed Napa Valley in California!
