Staff were pleasant. The room was clean. Unfortunately, the in room heating unit would loudly crackle, snap and thump when it was on. This made for a very bad night’s sleep. A staff member stood by our vehicle as we were loading out and smoked a cigarette, sharing her second hand smoke with us and our cat-not cool.

John Day Best Western is the best. We've stayed here on many trips and will be back. Location is very convenient to walking to dinner. Quiet at night and good mattress.

It’s what I would expect in a small rural town. Rooms were clean, employees were nice, breakfast was fine. If I’m this area this is the best place to stay in this town. There’s a little restaurant a block away that is really good.
