Highgate Independent in Jersey City

"We stayed here as a family with two preteens to go to New York City during the day and it was a great option for us. It was definitely clean, I wouldn’t call it spic and span by any means. The location is fabulous for views of the New York City skyline, as well as easy access to the metro to get into New York. There is a CVS nearby, a couple of walking blocks to get anything you might need and I never felt unsafe in this location."

"I really like this hotel. However they stopped serving a hot breakfast which is a big reason we like ot so much. That was disappointing. They did have a bagged breakfast. But it wasnt the same. This stay, our keys didnt work many times and we were on the 8th floor. This was annoying. Other than that it was a nice stay. The staff was VERY nice helpful."

"Stayed here with my family. Overall, it’s a good hotel with convenient parking and friendly staff. However, maintenance needs improvement—breakfast options were limited, and the room appliances need updating."

"Room has some dark substance mushed into floor that my son stepped in, ac wasn’t working had to have worker come in and work on it. The room had a musty smell to it, used toiletries were left in the bathroom. "

"Usually an excellent place to stay. On this visit however we asked the staff on the first day not to bother making the room up. After that we didn't get any service at all until we asked 2 days later. After being out all day we came back to discover the room was made but we had absolutely no towels and it didn’t appear the bathroom had been properly cleaned. When housekeeping sent someone up to bring some towels he was obviously less than happy to assist. Not up to their usual standards "
