This brand new deep-water sound-front property features an elevator, and is nearly completely surrounded by water with stunning panoramic views!
We also have an additional property should you need more room than just this house! Please see listing number 601083!
This stylishly fun 2100 sq. foot duplex house is located in Topsail Beach on the water of Banks Channel in the private gated community of Queens Grant. Unlike other houses that only offer the beach, at "How Sweet the Sound" there are unlimited things to do. Choose to spend your days by walking to the never crowded beach through the private access, only 600 feet away, bring your boat, jet skis, kayaks, and paddle boards and spend the day on the water easily accessed through the private boat launch and docks with immediate access to deep water, the inter-coastal waterway, and the ocean. You can keep your boat at the dock yards away from the house for your whole stay! Choose to soak up some rays at the huge pool (open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day). Catch your own dinner! There is no need to go to the pier since you can fish, crab, and shrimp right from the house and clean your catch at the fish cleaning sink in the neighborhood! Have a picnic at the community shelter or play basketball on the neighborhood court. You won't find a deck with a better view or closer to the water on the island than those at 'How Sweet the Sound'.
Spend your evenings watching the dolphin jump and boats go by as the sun sets over the water directly off the decks. Being nearly completely surrounded by water, this house is very quiet and private. There is no road traffic to be heard and the most noise you will hear is the occasional fish jumping, Osprey calling from the nest on the channel marker not far away, or occasional fishing boat passing by. Finish off your evening by watching a movie on the 55 inch Smart HD TV. There is high speed wifi throughout the house.
About the house: This reverse floor plan custom house was furnished by a professional interior decorator, and is perhaps the most breathtaking house on the island. The house is on the deep water sound and has some of the best fishing on the island right from the lawn at the house. The ground level features a carport for two vehicles with additional private parking in the front of the house. There is a large storage closet for your bikes, beach, and fishing gear for the fresh catch you just reeled in from the yard! There is also an outside shower with hot and cold water. A wet weather entry leads inside the ground level which features a foyer and the elevator. No need to lug suitcases and bags of groceries up multiple flights of stairs, just stick them in the interior elevator and you are all set! This is a great asset for elderly guests.
The second floor features three bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom has a king size bed, walk in closet, 40 inch LED TV, walk out deck (featuring a hammock chair) overlooking the water, and has unspoiled water views out of its windows. There is nothing better than opening your eyes in the morning and seeing the water shimmering a few feet away outside your window. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, access to the deck overlooking the water, walk in closet, and 40 inch LED TV. The third bedroom has a bunk bed (twin over full) with an extra full size mattresses stored under the beds and a 40 inch LED TV.
The top floor features vaulted ceilings, breathtaking decorations, a two seat bistro table, and a fresh, contemporary kitchen with a large 3-seat bar, separate wine and beer fridge, dining room table for 6, couches (one pullout Queen sleeper), arm chairs, reading area, games, 55 inch Smart LED HD TV and water views, views, views! Bed and bath linens are provided. Sorry, NO PETS ALLOWED.
About the Area: There are several highly-rated golf courses within minutes from the house, off-shore and in-shore fishing charters less than a mile away, both gourmet and family style restaurants, mini-golf, shopping, party boats, grocery stores, churches, and so much more all immediately accessible. Wilmington is 30 minutes to the South with great attractions like the USS North Carolina Battleship, Aquarium, Serpentarium, great shopping, tours, etc!

Excellent property. Quiet neighborhood. Great location, just a short drive to the tourist area but far enough where the beach was never busy. Fully stocked house and great communication with owners. Would definitely return!
Our family had a wonderful stay. The town is quiet and family friendly. We loved waking up to the bay and watching dolphins. There were kids staying in neighboring homes which kept my kids busy too! Definitely recommend and will visit again.
Great location with a wonderful view of the sound. Having access to a pool is a good perk when we wanted a break from the beach. Overall we had a fantastic time.
Third year at "How Sweet the Sound" and it was the best yet. Lots of water time via kayaks and wading in the ocean not to mention all the fishing as there are great charters to consider as well as water tours. Great restaurants including the new one we found Splash by the Sea. Being directly water (Sound) front makes even lazy time magnificent.
Wonderful, probably the best house we've stayed at over the years, location was awesome, the pool was great and the beach was an easy walk across the street and never crowded, the sunset's were better than described and we saw dolphins and stingrays every day out our back door.. can't wait to come back 👍
We rented both connected townhouses for 2 families of 4 and 1 grandparent. Very clean property with all the amenities. Owners were very responsive to a couple of minor issues. Highly recommend!
For the second year in a row we chose "How Sweet The Sound" to celebrate our anniversary. We had beach time, fishing time also on a charter, relaxing, reading, good restaurants and just enjoying the beauty of this townhome and of course Topsail Sound. As a matter of fact, we are booked for next year as well.
The location was amazing. House was very comfortable, loved all the décor. Kitchen was amazing when I had to cook and feed 9 adults for Christmas. We will definitely book this property again. Even with the huge storm on Sunday the property was safe and sound.
The listing agent was very prompt with answering questions and concerns.
Great views and very clean. 3rd bedroom is definitely accommodating for smaller kids. We brought an air mattress in order to accommodate our family. Really sleeps 8 comfortably.
We were impressed with the property overall. The amount of room on the top floor great for families. The elevator certainly helps for anyone with physical challenges. Furniture is a little worn in the living and dining room but beautifully decorated. Top kitchen appliances and TVs in every room. Multiple balcony
The property was beautiful and in a very quiet, peaceful neighborhood. The views were great and it was fun watching the boats go by. The sunsets were beautiful also. I saw some dolphins swimming by and they put on a little bit of a show. The elevator was a nice convenience getting all the luggage & groceries up in one trip too. I have no complaints, would stay there again and highly recommend anyone to stay there.
The house was very nice. The reverse floor plan allowed for unobstructed views of the bay behind Topsail Island while reading or eating. The King size bed was comfortable and everything worked as it should. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The house has an elevator that we used for freight only. As the house has three levels, there are alot of steps.
This was our first trip to Topsail Beach. We felt like we found the perfect home in the perfect neighborhood!
It had everything our family wanted!! The house was spacious and comfortable! The view of the intercoastal and west to the sunset was AMAZING!! We took advantage off the concrete basketball court for some family friendly 2vs2 and then cooled off in the pool. Beach access was a quick walk across the road for playing in the waves and bocce ball on the beach. We also really enjoyed our visit to the Topsail Museum called Missiles and more. So much interesting history on the island. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the free museum! We truly had it all and plan on returning to this home again!
We really enjoyed our stay! Beautiful place, perfect location. In early March we had the beach almost entirely to ourselves. Far enough out to be quiet but very easy drive to restaurants, activities. Plenty of space for a family of 6 (we ended up not even using one bedroom). Kids loved the playground and basketball court. Bringing our own linens wasn’t super convenient as we were driving from the Midwest, and not staying long enough to justify paying for a linen service. It was not a big deal, but a few things I didn’t consider packing were things like bath mats and enough hand towels for the kitchen. Host quickly replied when we had a question. Would definitely stay again.
My wife and I came here to decompress for a few days after the Christmas holiday. This was our first stay here. The house was in a quiet gated community. And since this was between the holidays, it was serenely quiet. The house is right on the Intracoastal Waterway with breathtaking views westward over the water. In fact, we witnessed a spectacular sunset on of the nights (one of the advantages of facing west versus east).
The house was spotless and had an elevator, which made our move-in/move-out much easier. The house was larger than we expected, which was a plus, with a big, roomy kitchen. The only caveat would to be prepared to either bring your own (full) propane tank if you plan to use the outdoor grill. The property comes with a tank and grill, but there's no guaranty that previous renters haven't emptied it before the hosts can refill it. Otherwise, a perfect quiet get-a-way during the between-the-holidays-period.

Description did not match property
The house was very nice and in good condition. The views were incredible! Our biggest issue was that the on-line description and pictures did not match what we found when we arrived. The description and pictures now appear to have been updated to the correct number of bedrooms but the bathrooms listed are still incorrect. Be aware there are only 3 bedrooms with 2 full baths and 1 half bath. There is a pull out queen bed in the couch.
Bedroom 1 has a king and private bath. Bedroom 2 has a Queen. Bedroom 3 has a double with a twin bunk and a double mattress on the floor under the bunk bed. When that double mattress is pulled out, you cannot exit the room without walking over the double mattress on the floor. This was less than ideal for our group of adult women.
2 full baths was also a disappointment with 7 women in the party. It appears in the listing that the outdoor shower and the half bath are being counted as a full bathroom. Read the full description carefully.
Finally parking 3 SUVs in the provided area was a real challenge. Perhaps smaller cars would fit okay but larger anything larger will need to be backed out before people can get into the vehicle on both sides.
Check-in wasn't as smooth as expected. I received an email from the property manager with a link to the gate and house codes, but that link just led to the VRBO listing. The owners were very responsive when I reached out to them so it wasn't a problem.
Amazing view from this unit. We were able to bring our boat and enjoy the waterway. House was very clean and perfect for a quick getaway. Would definitely stay here again!
