About this property
Kid friendly - Rustic Charm - 23 miles to YNP
Secluded, kid friendly, and only 23 miles to West Yellowstone! Cozy Critter Cabin is the perfect home base for all your outdoor adventures! We are located in a quiet and secluded area of Island Park, yet close to everything you want to do. Built in the early 1970’s Cozy Critter Cabin is a 1400 square foot classic cabin with some vintage charm. The main level has the original wood walls with rough cut espresso colored beams stretching across the new knotty pine vaulted ceiling. Additional lighting has been added so you can enjoy the level of lighting that best suits your desires. The original wood burning stove has a new brick hearth adding rustic beauty and cozy warmth to the cabin. Sitting on nearly 3/4 acres of property amidst towering pine trees and aspens growing amidst beautiful wildflowers in the warmer months.
Sit on the front deck while you relax and enjoy a cup of locally roasted coffee or tea provided for your stay before you begin your adventures for the day while you sit and take in the beauty of the forest. Prepare your meals in the well stocked kitchen with all the cooking basics plus an Instant Pot, coffee pot, coffee grinder, stovetop water kettle, electric griddle, toaster, blender, and a hand mixer. Enjoy your meals indoors at the spacious table or outdoors at the picnic table in the warmer months. Wind down at the end of the day at the outdoor fire pit with s’mores and fireside conversation. In case inclement weather keeps you from your outdoor adventures we have you covered. Games and puzzles are available with plenty of room to play them at the large table. A small selection of books are available downstairs where you can turn on the electric fireplace and enjoy some quiet time or walk around the corner and challenge your traveling partners to a game of foosball. For those traveling with small children we can accommodate your toddler (under age 2) in addition to the other guests. We want to make traveling with small children as stress-free as possible. You will find a selection of toys, child friendly dishes, bibs, a highchair, mobile play yard, pack-n-play, and baby blankets supplied. We’ve also installed a baby gate at the top of the stairs on the main floor as well as connectors around the wood burning stove to attach the mobile play yard to so you can still enjoy the wood burning stove without the risk of young children burning themselves. Situated on roughly 3/4 acres of land, there is plenty of room for children to go play outside, including a playhouse with a few toys where kids can explore and be creative. If you’re looking for a cozy place for your family that feels like home away from home with things to do nearby and easy access to Yellowstone Park then Cozy Critter Cabin is the perfect place to make your memories!

The back of the property is bordered by undeveloped Targhee National Forest lands which allows random visits from a variety of forest critters, so keep your eyes open during your stay. After booking you will receive a link to do the following within 48 hours of booking: - sign rental agreement - send ID - schedule a $200 security deposit
For guests visiting between mid October and mid May we strongly recommend 4WD for snow packed roads and the incline of our driveway! Fire pit doubles as an outdoor grill with a grilling rack that swings over the pit. The fire pit is only available JUNE-SEPTEMBER!! Be aware both indoor stairwells are a bit steep and narrow. There are outdoor stairwells to both the front and back decks that both access the main floor of the cabin that are much wider and easier to go up, especially with luggage or coolers. The outdoor stairs are a bit harder to access when the snow accumulates. NO ANIMALS are allowed at the cabin due to severe allergies in our family and we use our cabin regularly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cozy Critter Cabin. Everything was well-marked and easy to find. Beds and furniture were comfortable; the weather was great so honestly we didn't spend much time in the house, but we had plenty to do and explore and keep everybody entertained while we were there. We will definitely recommend this to friends and family who are looking for a place to stay near Yellowstone.
We had a great time staying at the cabin. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in staying in the area. We would love to stay again in the future. Thank you
Everything was just perfect!
Quiet and peaceful location surrounded by trees, cozy and simple.
The wood stove was a huge plus, we had it on every night!
Great communication with Tiffany as well.
We will be back for sure!
We enjoyed the cabin - kids loved the playhouse in the yard and toys. It was well stocked with everything kids need. Had to be careful on the steps as they are small and steep but we figured it out. Was a bit of a drive in and out of yellowstone but the beautiful scenery made it go by quickly.
We were so amazed with the property and our experience! It was close enough to West Yellowstone but also isolated enough from the world. The cabin was gorgeous, private, quiet and equipped with everything! When we go back to Yellowstone I am hoping this cabin is still available to rent.
We stayed at the Cozy Critter Cabin for 4 nights with our 4 and 7 year olds. The house had so many nice touches for kids— a game room, toys in the loft, the outdoor playset— at times, we had to bargain with them to leave the house for the day! We drove into the park without a problem and enjoyed the drive back out to the cabin every evening. The highlight of our stay was the early evening visit from a moose while
eating dinner on the back deck! We would definitely stay again!
Our family enjoyed the Cozy Critter Cabin very much! The owners really thought of everything. There are helpful notes throughout the cabin, instructions on how to use the fireplace, TV, etc and notes about the amenities offered. Check in and out was easy. We didn’t need anything or have any questions during our stay but we knew the owners were easy to get ahold of if we had. Highly recommend!
Pros -
Toddler friendly
Cabin was clean
Approximately 30 minutes to West Yellowstone
Fully stocked
Cons -
The stairs are extremely narrow for adults and dangerous. We avoided booking some other properties since they mentioned that their stairs were narrow. This did not specify that and I fell down from the top of the stairs all the way down badly injuring my arm and affecting our vacation. Due to this, some others in our group did not even attempt to go upstairs and just stayed downstairs. If you have elder people in your group, I would stay away (I am middle aged).
Tiffany was absolutely amazing at keeping in touch with me. The roads were closed on the day we were to leave and she let us stay longer. That location was great and the property absolutely beautiful. We hope to be able to stay there again soon!

We were impressed by the cabin. Everything very organized and clean. This cabin is very pleasant, quiet and cozy. To go to Yellowstone is more or less 30mn is very convenient for the price and it is safe.
Great location for a trip to Yellowstone, close enough for day trips & far enough away to be quiet & not in the middle of the hustle & bustle of West Yellowstone.
Very comfortable home & property. Beds & pillows were just like being at a second home. Kitchen is easy to move around in. There are little touches all over this home that gives it country personality. Our little girl was at first scared of the bear toilet paper holder, so we named him Rick the Friendly Bear & all is well.
Only 25 minutes away from the west entrance of the Park. Very well equipped and cozy cabin. We enjoyed the nearby lake and the woods just outside the property. We would definitely recommend this place!!! 10/10
