Little House is a small, rustic, studio style cabin sits on a large open lot with beautiful views of the Tetons. With a woodsy theme throughout the cabin and comfortable furnishings, this is the perfect couples getaway. The home is an open style cabin with a comfortable queen size bed, a full size sofa sleeper, fully equipped kitchen, and a full size bathroom with a washer and dryer. This cabin has a large enough driveway for vehicles and short ATV trailers. You can ride directly to miles and miles of trails and relax on the spacious front deck. The stars are stunning in our area of the West.

Along with being only 40 minutes away from West Yellowstone and the West entrance in Yellowstone National Park, there are numerous other activities that you can enjoy. There is a dinner theater just 20 minutes away, as well as a location that you can rent boats to float down the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Once you rent the boats, the staff will take you and your boats up the river so you can float down at your own pace. Moose in the River is a common sighting on this adventure, it is enjoyable for all ages. Just twenty minutes south, there are two waterfalls you can see - Upper and Lower Mesa Falls. They are both breathtaking.

Just a few minutes away is Henry's Lake - World Famous for the phenomenal fly fishing. You are also just a short distance from the Madison River and Hebgen Lake if fishing will be part of your journey. There are businesses in the area where you can actually rent all of the items you'll need to enjoy a day on the water. Other recreational rentals include - kayaks, four wheelers, snowmobiles, and 4-wheelers.

There are 100's of miles of trails throughout the area for you to explore. If you're concerned about dining options - Don't be! There are a dozen wonderful restaurants within Island Park and we would be happy to make a recommendation for your group. Island Park and the West Yellowstone area have a lot of activities to offer, and we would love to help you find and plan the perfect ones for your group and your visit to our area.

Getting Around:

Guests will need to make sure they have their own vehicle. Summer months are fine with a small car but four wheel drive is a must in the winter!

Other Things to Note:

What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

Little House on the Prairie

We had an amazing time at the cabin!!!! We came for our 45th Anniversary. Spent 2 days exploring Yellowstone Park and got lots of pictures. We were lucky enough to see a Moose from the cabin and also foxes. It was the perfect get a way for us and our German Shepherd Lucy.

Beatiful location in Shotgun Valley with views of Sawtell Peak and the distant Tetons

Great cabin for 2 people. One queen bed with small sofa area and full kitchen. Easy access from the Kilgore/Yale Road. Great location for fishing the Henry's Fork, visiting Yellowstone, or hiking local trails.

Cozy little house near Yellowstone

This home was very cozy and clean. There was a beautiful sunrise straight ahead that went over the mountain tops. The location is very close to Yellowstone, so we didnt stay at the home much at all, as we were at the park from sunrise to sunset.

Nice little getaway

I took my wife here for our anniversary. We went fishing and visited Mesa falls. The cabin is quaint, very private and the bed was comfortable. We saw Elk almost every day. This would be a great jumping off point for Yellowstone. We're definitely coming back in the summer .

Perfection!

We loved the cabin! It was a bit of a drive daily to enjoy Yellowstone but we loved the real location. The sky at night was 1000% worth all the driving! We loved being able to drink coffee every morning with Mountain View’s. Since it was my sister and I, we used the pull out couch and the main bed. The pull out was comfy and my sister slept well on it since she lost the battle! We def recommend staying here!

Perfect Little Cabin!

This cabin was perfect for my husband and I for our Yellowstone trip. We were a short 30 minute drive from the cabin to the west entrance of the park. The neighborhood was quiet and the snow capped mountain views from the porch were beautiful. Gas and groceries were just a short drive from the cabin. The WiFi worked great and we were able to stream Netflix movies. The host also has a very informative binder with information about restaurants, important numbers, etc.

The prooerty was truly a little house on the praire. It was a log cabin. It had everything we needed. A full kitchen eith washer & dryer. Everything was clean, the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels to start. We were there 4 nights. It was approximately 40 minutes from west Yellowstone. Since we were going to Yellowstone NP, we didnt spend a lot of time in the cabin. We loved our stay and highly recommend it.

Pleased

The cabin, overall, was good. It had everything we needed except for a hair dryer. There was a box under the cabinet for it but it only had an empty vodka bottle in it. Which made me wonder about how thorough the cleaning process was. The porch has several loose and soft boards. It would have been nice if a ceiling fan was over the bed. Also, need to do some pest control. We killed several spiders inside and there was a LOT of gnats inside.

August Cabin Stay

The cabin was ideal for my husband and I to work remotely for a week between our travels at Grand Teton & Yellowstone. We greatly appreciated that it was pet friendly so our dog could join the fun! It was a very small cabin, but it worked perfectly for us as a couple. The property was clean when we arrived. The Wifi was sufficient for both of us to work remotely and take meetings. Since this is managed by a rental property, the check-in process is automated, which is easy. Unfortunately I had a question for the property owner after my stay, and they don't appear to respond to personal emails (even with multiple reminder attempts). If you are wanting a more personal experience with your cabin rental host, this may not be the place for you.

Beautiful!

If you are okay with a 30 minutes drive to the park this is a great location! We loved that it was on land and wasn't on top of other cabins, perfect for two people. If in Yellowstone for a whole week I would have stayed the entire time. Clean, great water pressure. Simple but everything you need. Tranquil ++

Breathtaking!!

We loved our stay!! So quaint and quiet! Perfect for our family! We have stayed in Island Park before just down the road 11 years ago! Perfect drive to the park. Not too far and not too close! We loved sitting outside on deck and enjoying the quiet! We even saw three foxes each night fighting over little ground squirrels! Would definitely recommend and will be back!

The warmth and sense of comfort that you feel as you enter this cabin is overwhelming to say the least! This was not only a great base camp for our daily outings to Yellowstone but it was our home away from home. The panoramic views of the sky and mountain line were spectacular, day and night! This cabin is so cozy that we decided to stay in for an entire day to absorb it instead of sightseeing. The nice fire pit was the perfect touch to chilly evenings. We honestly cannot say enough good things about it. We have even discussed coming back to just stay at the cabin for a little retreat and not do the touristy stuff. That is definitely in our future plans!

Clean house on the prairie

We stayed here for almost 2 weeks while our son attended camp by Henry's Lake. The house was clean and check-in was easy. Very close access to trails, reservoir, Henry's Fork and Lake; about a half hour to West Yellowstone. The surrounding area got very busy with ATVs over the July 4th weekend. We saw moose, elk, fox, pronghorn and bear close to the house.

Check in was horrible!

The cabin itself was lovely and very comfortable if it were in another setting I would go back in a minute but your view was what looked like a junk yard and the check-in process was unbelievable bad the management company needs to be chastised by the owner I got there early to make sure I could get checked in and its a good thing I did because it took me 1.5 hrs to get in the door because I was sent the wrong code then it took 1.5 hrs for the management to get back to me with the correct code I contacted VRBO and they couldn't get hold of them either I was on my way to get a hotel and cancel my stay in the middle of a snow storm when I was finally contacted " oh I guess you were sent the wrong code try this one"! so the start of my getaway was awful and I will not stay in another property managed by these people. This was the first bad experience I have had with VRBO and again it wasn't them it was the management company.
