Private beach and nature preserve on Lake Superior and Mineral River.
A true piece of majestic grandeur on Lake Superior near the Porcupine Mountains. A stunning home nestled in a coastal boreal forest with full access to a private nature sanctuary and beach at the mouth of the Mineral River on Lake Superior! Eight hundred feet of frontage on the Mineral River, great for paddling and fishing and 400 feet of beach on Lake Superior, perfect for summer days with kids. No other homes are within sight anywhere on the property. This truly feels like your own private wilderness. There are newly constructed boardwalks and nature trails, making the beach and property easily accessible.
Located a stone's throw from the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park with a beach that continues for a quarter mile onto public land. Don't miss a stay at the most stunning accommodation in the region.
Guests will have full access to the entire house. Upstairs rooms have views of Lake Superior through the forest! This nature-themed eco-lodge has everything needed for a great vacation in the U.P. with a spectacular beach and access to the Mineral River, private nature trails, and boardwalks. A great place for kids and adults with 5 separate rooms with guest accommodation, plus common areas, 3 porches, and a gas Weber grill available for use. A 1/3 mile nature trail/boardwalk system through the enchanting forest and across swale wetlands was completed in spring 2020.
The kitchen has a large island with three chairs for additional dining, an electric stove, a large microwave, a dishwasher, and a full-size fridge. The cupboards are fully stocked with dishes, dish towels, pots, pans, utensils, and silverware - pretty much everything you would need for meal prep/cooking, including a coffee pot. Eco-friendly dish soap will be provided. An upstairs bunk bed with some toys for kids makes it great for families. A closet with games and additional toys and two spacious living areas downstairs are ideal for low-key social events and family gatherings. However, large gatherings, such as weddings, are not allowed on the property due to possible impacts on the driveway, septic, and beach.
Bonus: a shipwreck sits just offshore within easy reach of experienced kayakers and paddleboarders.
This is very private! No houses/neighbors can be seen from the residence or anywhere on the property. The house is a short walk (100 ft) from your own slice of sandy beach in a coastal boreal forest which is contiguous with the most beautiful beach in the Porcupine Mountains with natural sand dunes. Only minutes from Lake of the Clouds and countless beautiful hikes and waterfalls in the state park, the Ottawa National Forest and beyond! There are plenty of restaurants and a few stores about a mile away in Silver City, yet when you are here it certainly feels like the wilderness with the continuous roar of Gitche Gumee. The nearest snowmobile trail is less than a mile away.

Perfect location to visit Porcupine Mountains. We really enjoyed being able to photograph the Northern Lights over Lake Superior right from the property.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
Excellent location to check out the Porcupine Mountains. House was spacious and plenty of room for everyone. The beach was awesome. One drawback was not being able to see the water from the deck.
Beautiful location in the woods, amazing beach area
We loved the house and spot on the lake. There is a fun little river that flows into Lake Superior. The sunrise and sunset were so pretty. We had all the things we needed to explore and have fun including lots of info about the surrounding area. Our host left yummy treats that we enjoyed. The beds were ok and we missed having some blinds especially in the downstairs bathroom and bedroom.
This was a perfect place to enjoy adventure! It was close to waterfalls, hiking, and the Porcupine Mountains. We loved the privacy of our own beach, riverside and lakeside! A campfire under the brilliant starry heavens with the beauty of roaring waves was an amazing and memorable moment for us. My 8 year old granddaughter loved the trail through the fairy forest! We are truly grateful for the magical experience of this beautiful home! We want to come again.
My family and I stayed here, 9 adults and my son (under a year). It’s exactly as listed, the beach was so gorgeous, we went out to see the shipwreck, paddled along the river, had fires at the fire pit, walked the paths on the property - it was all so great. It is the remote woods of course so there are bugs, one day flies on the beach were particularly crazy and there are a lot of mosquitos in the woods. But pretty manageable.
We all loved it! Definitely recommend
My husband and I were looking for a place with some quiet, some beautiful views and creature comforts. This place has it all! The cabin was spacious, kitchen amazing for cooking big meals, the private beach and hiking trails were picture perfect and the solitude was unmatched. Being somewhere where it could literally be JUST the two of us was incredible! Ryne really put the work into making this place magical. I am a birder and the books on birds in the area along with binoculars for use was the cherry on top of this wonderful stay. Thank you and we will definitely return!
Rynes place is a summer paradise! Four friends and I stayed here for a week. The house is laid out perfectly. 4 bedrooms and none share a wall. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is hands down the best beach any of us have been to. We all agreed it was better than the Caribbean. Even though it is next to a public beach, we still felt secluded. There are so many birds to see. Even had a Bald Eagle keep us company all week. We had plans to visit the towns and hike the porcupine wilderness but it was so peaceful we never felt like leaving. If you are looking for a place to stay in the UP, look no further. I would give it 20 stars if I could.

Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
Unfortunately, we never received arrival information and the host was unreachable/non-responsive until after our check in time and we had to drive to an area with wifi to reach out to Expedia/VRBO for resolution. While on the phone with customer support to initiate their cancellation process in this situation, the host returned my call (Expedia had shared their contact info when we tried to get check in information earlier in the day). That said, after waiting nearly 2 hours to get in with groceries for the stay, we were finally able to access the house. If you are looking for a place to stay for outdoor enjoyment - the beach, river, natural area - this property delivers. For our stay, however, we found cleaniness of the property to be an issue. Both bathrooms had mold issues on the enclosure, abundance of spider webs throughout the house - window sills, ceiling corners, light fixtures, etc. And although I appreciate not being wasteful, much of the re-usable items left from previous renters were well past their expiration date (e.g. items in the fridge, medicine in the bathrooms, etc.). We also found some of the kitchen items, like the cooking pots and knifes, in need of updating. We resorted to cutting tomatoes with a steak knife and the non-stick pans were well past their non-stick performance (scrambled eggs were not a compatible choice for the condition of the pans). The property also does not have any window blinds for privacy (for post beach changing, etc.)
Lovely home with spectacular setting. The weather was great, too, and we swam in Lake Superior and played and paddled on the river every day. Plenty of room for 6 adults and 4 kids. A great place to make memories.
We enjoyed the stay a lot. Lake Superior never disappoints. More prestay communication with the manager would be good but otherwise it was an excellent experience.
Awesome property has EVERYTHING and then some we totally enjoyed our stay. The property owner was very easy to communicate with and everything was 1st class

Good location, property needs help.
Good location, but property is not well maintained or cleaned.
We had a great time here. The house fit our family perfectly. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location was awesome. We loved having our own private beach. Ryne was very kind and left us some wood for the woodstove and even offered the use of his snowshoes.
Terrific property- location is superb- private, serene with wonderful lake views and right next to the Porkies. Owners clearly care deeply about the home and the land surrounding it. Highly recommend for couples and families seeking a private natural setting.
This property was a perfect place from which our family could explore the Porcupine Mountain State Park. It is only a few short miles from the park entrance. Its location on Lake Superior and the Mineral River is very private and beautiful. The host has done an excellent job keeping the property natural, creating a nature preserve, and making the beach and river very accessible. The house is well equipped and was very comfortable and the host was very responsive to our questions.
For those who enjoy winter in the UP and skiing at the Porkies, this is a great place. It had everything our family needed, and I appreciated not having to bring toilet paper, shampoo, dish soap or dishwasher detergent. The wood stove (and stock of firewood) was perfect after a day outside, and the kitchen is well supplied for cooking. We stayed only for a long weekend but I’d add time if you’re able. And if you can work remotely, the desk/library room would make a peaceful and spacious office any time of year!
This place has it ALL. The home is clean, lovely and comfortable, and blends perfectly with all the natural beauty surrounding you at every moment. The ecolodge is hidden amount the trees, so from either the Lake Superior beach or the Mineral River beach, you see no signs of intrusive human life. But we did see mama loon and her 15 babies each morning, geese, and enjoyed seeing the seagulls perched each day on the rocks near the shipwreck. My 12 yo daughter was lucky enough to find a dragonfly nymph and have it stay in her hand for all its phases of transition to a dragonfly.
Sunsets were a sight to behold each night.
