"This was one of the best properties for our stay. Right on the beach and our own outside grassy space which was great for dogs. Pity there wasn't a bed settee so other family members could come.The lodge was clean and had a peaceful ambience."

"Lovely hotel for a few days in port Patrick. The staff were very helpful and looked after my wife and I. The room was adequate with everything we needed for our 3 day stay. The bathroom was of a good size but the shower was difficult to get in and out. Loads of walking options available and every where was dog friendly. The food was really good and the breakfast was first class. The lady looking after us at breakfast was so helpful and a really nice. Great place to stay."

Very large seperate bathroom with “antique” fixtures and fittings Very large double bed which was very comfortable Stunning views across Portpatrick and across the Irish sea. Great staff, friendly and helpful Veggie breakfast was hot and freshly cooked (but could have been bigger) Evening meal had several veggie options (pizza, squash pie, curry, burger) but these could have been better Would be happy to stay here again but I'd also hope by then the hotel has taken a few steps forward refresh the rooms. Paintwork is looking tired; fix what needs fixing; bathroom window didn't close properly and was sealed by tape add a few small touches – eg shower cap; replace the rubber plug in the bathroom sink with something more fitting extend the veggie menu – pasta, salads, risotto"

"This castle is fabulous! For Americans it is like stepping into a Downton Abby set. The staff greet you at the door, take your luggage and from that moment forward treat you like royalty. Not only is this a gated property, but you need your sir name in order for the gate to open! Then the drive up the narrow road just enhances your excitement to see the castle. John was great at showing us around and to our room. He was very helpful in understanding where everything was and how to get around. The option to use boots and coats owned by Glenapp to tour the grounds was an added bonus so you didn’t get your own shoes dirty. The room was spacious, clean and very welcoming. To have the option of taking a full tub was amazing. Surprising was the turn down service given without request - we had already retired but would have loved to have this done for us. In the morning we requested some hot tea to enjoy while in the sitting area of our room. We were given a drink credit by using Expedia, but I am wondering if the dinner and breakfast were already included in the pricing. That was not clear, but we did enjoy a very wonderful breakfast while listening to classical pop music - very Bridgerton. Even without the TV references, this is a quintessential castle experience and I highly recommend staying at Glenapp Castle."

We would stay again if we had to, as we couldn't find a place to stay in the actual town of Stranraer the Inn is located in Portpatrick). It was adequate for the price. We ate somewhere else, but the restaurant seemed busy. It was also pretty quiet for a pub/restaurant in the summer, which we appreciated."
