Thank goodness my dau speaks German, had internet access on her phone and the skills to locate the owner who gave her the passcode to get the room key out of lock box. He stated he didn’t see the reservation and upgraded our room. Next we expected to have breakfast everyday for €7.50 each. We went down for breakfast only to find no one on site and no breakfast. "This is a lovely place to stay. Kathrin the owner very friendly and helpful, her English is excellent. The hotel is beautifully decorated and you can buy toiletries, snacks and drinks. Comfy bed, nice pillows, decent WiFi. Shower took a while to warm up but was excellent when it did. Effective and easy to adjust heating. The breakfast buffet is superb. Theres no lift but there are some ground floor rooms and at worst you have to go up 2 flights of stairs.

"A very peaceful place to stay, in a valley village outside Herzberg. Room was very comfortable. The only gripe was that on "Hotels.com" it was described (in FAQ) as having an onsite restuarant, but it turned out that this was no longer the case. The optional breakfast was good though, served in the rooms, on a tray."

"The hotel is conveniently located within walking distances of city center. Vibrant town with shopping and dinning close. Tourist information was available in the lobby.
Language barrier upon checking in making it a challenge to get checked in. The automated check in, emails, reception all in German. Be patient during you stay if using translation apps. We were able to get by without any major issues.
The breakfast in the morning is worth the extra charge. Nice setting and convenient so you don’t have to leave the hotel.
Overall, our stay was pleasant and would recommend this location.

"The hotel was located in an excellent location, close to transport links.
Lacks tea and coffee making facilities, this would have made our stay easier rather than to keep purchasing expensive takeaway drinks.
The rooms were also extremely hot due to the outside temperature being over 30 degrees. A large fan or air conditioning would have been nice. Beds were extremely comfortable as were the pillows.
Although this is a beautiful hotel and very comfortable, I feel the hotel has priced itself out of the market as there are many air bnb properties which are much cheaper and sadly we will likely use next time we visit. "
