Architect-designed cabin at Holmetangen

We've designed this cabin with older, simple cabin models as a model. Three large skylights let in light at all hours of the day and give the rooms a sense of lightness that guests have described as having a “Japanese feel” and “meditative tranquillity.” You'll arrive at a place where nature's present in every room—no matter where you look, you'll see out towards the light and sky. We've furnished the cabin simply with few loose items, which helps maintain a sense of order and tranquillity. You can partially open the large glass surfaces in the main room on both sides, letting it function as a pavilion. The cabin has three bedrooms—all with their own door or window opening directly to the outdoors. The bathroom and sauna are located in a separate section with a covered outdoor area. On one side, the main cabin, the bathroom and sauna section, and the rocky outcrop form a sheltered atrium with a large terrace. Here you can enjoy lovely afternoons with barbecues and meals under the large roof. On the northeast side, there are seating areas bathed in morning and mid-morning sun, with views down into the sound. It's just a short walk down to the rocky shore and a small sandy beach. The cabin's about a 10-minute walk southwest from the car park, along a wide trail through the forest. Since there are no roads in the area, it feels like a true outdoor experience. The trail opens up to the sea and sky above Asmaløy and toward the Skagerrak. It's a short walk to lovely swimming spots on the outer side of Spjærøy, and there are many hiking trails in the area.
