Shiretown Hotel is the place to stay in Houlton,ME

I've stayed here 4 times in the last month and half. They are very consistent. Hospitality is welcoming, service is great, rooms are clean, and quiet. Just the way I like it.

This was a last minute booking. the check in was easy, the lady behind the counter was pleasant, welcoming and very helpful. the entrance to the hotel, the hallway and the room were extremely clean.Nice smelling. I definitely would stay there again, and I will recommend the hotel to my friends and family.

The property is across from iHop, which was convenient, with Pizza Hut, McDonalds and other restaurants nearby. The office staff were very polite and friendly. The room was large. I would definitely stay there again.

Good & clean motel

Good, clean spot to get a good night sleep. Not noisy. I had a little trouble figuring out the thermostat but eventually managed. Friendly front desk.

This hotel is an older hotel, which means the rooms are larger. You can actually walk around the room without bumping into furniture! It was quiet when I was there, which was on a Thursday; I don't know how quiet it is on the weekend. I plan on going back when I'm in the area again.

Room was outdated (we’d asked for a room with its own external door), bathroom floor was chipped and patchy, shower head is installed way too low and shower curtain drags on the bathtub base. Bedding was clean. Noisy location. Close to the shops. Restaurant on site was excellent.

Rudest Desk Clerk EVER

Check-in was a nightmare. We arrived early and I went into the office to see how early we could check in. As I walked in, the older woman behind the desk was telling a caller on her phone not to book online and she would call her back. As she gave me her attention, she asked my name, and when I told her my name and she looked on her computer, I started to ask about options for early check in, she told me check-in was 2pm. Then she asked, “You reserved online?” I told her we had and she said, “2 o’clock it is then.” I didn’t even have the opportunity to explain that we had a child with a disability and no power at our home due to a storm and needed a place to rest. I have never encountered such rudeness before. Different person at the desk when we were able to check in—my husband said he was very pleasant.
