All was great view, clenleness, good neighbors, supplies. The only i think the beds were only full size and the mattresses were not that comfortable we kept falling to the middle... but all else was great thanks Luke for your care
We spent a week here in Sept 2021. Luke was helpful and accommodating. The cottage is small, but has everything we wanted. The hot water worked great, the kitchen was stocked, the fridge and appliances all worked properly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the area.
Wonderful cabin on the quiet northern side of the lake. Perfect size for the four of us. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook most of our meals there. Use of the paddle board was an added bonus. Host was extremely helpful and communicated effectively when needed.
Houghton Lake doesn't have much sand for kids to play in, but Higgins Lake was a short drive from the cabin.
Our family came here to re-live the Houghton Lake memories we at our grandparent's cabin 35 years ago. This cute cabin with original pine paneling and beautiful lakefront is everything we needed. We could launch our kayaks easily and enjoy swimming by walking out on the awesome sandy bottom. Shade trees cover part of the yard for when you want a break from the sun. Campfire ring is right on the edge of the water, so you can watch boats in the evening as you gather around. We loved it here!
the water was great! no close neighbors while we were there. went to play mini golf in prudenville. the cabin was comfy and cozy. fishing was good, caught walleye and had a meal of them last night we were there. owner was very responsive. a nice stay!
We're a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children) and just returned from a 5 night stay at this cottage and had a wonderful time. The cottage is located in a beautiful neighborhood at the start of Long Point (east side of the Lake), a quiet and relaxing location away from the business and traffic of the south end of Houghton Lake. The cottage is a bit on the smaller side and has a small cozy rustic feel, but was very clean and definitely well stocked with everything you needed for cooking meals to eat in. The owner was also terrific to work with, very easy to get a hold of and responded to texts almost immediately. He seemed to be very attentative to not delaying his guests. Reached out to him also on a couple of occassions to let him know about small things I might have misplaced or damaged, and he seemed very easy going about it and told me not worry. Overall Luke was a terrific owner and one of the better ones I've ever rented from. The best part of this cottage though is the location. It is a very friendly neighborhood. Met my neighbors Dave and Gaetan early on during our trip and they couldn't have been any nicer to me and my family during out stay. They made an effort to stop by and introduce themselves and asked if we needed any help with anything. They went out of their way and lent my son and I fishing poles and even a canoe later on when they saw my son strugglin to catch fish off the dock with his little kids pole. Gaetan even took us out one evening on his boat to give us another shot at fishing. Just wonderful neighbors overall which made our stay that much better. Finally, should mention the physical location of the cottage is also great in that it usually gets a good breeze coming off the lake and made even the week of mid 80's to low 90's weather seem very comfortable, especially towards the evening when the breeze picks up. The AC window units in the bedrooms worked well and were strong enough to make you cold at night if you wanted. We really enjoyed being right on the lake for beautiful sunrise and evening sunset views while enjoying a good breakfast or dinner. The dock has a ladder at the end as well, so you can easily climb in/out of the water to go swimiing. The water depth is very shallow and sandy for several yards out so swimining is easy and safe for the kids. Overall we really enjoyed our relaxing easy going week at this cottage and would recommend it for any small family looking for a lake getaway.
My wife and I spent a week here with my Father in Law and our 13 y/0 son.
The property is as described. A cozy 2br cabin right on the North Bay of beautiful Houghton Lake. The dining table gives you a perfect view over your private fire pit and out to the dock, We rented a pontoon boat and used the owners boat hoist. (Not sure if that is always available.) The beds were comfy and supplies were plentiful, We will go again.
Every thing was great! Except for the May flies... whadda ya gonna do though. Mother Nature...

Charming, quiet and right on the lake!
We had a great time at this property for 4 nights with our 4 little ones! My 4 and 6 year olds had a blast jumping off the private dock and playing in the water. The water right behind the house is shallow and warm with a nice sandy bottom. This made it perfect for swimming! My husband even used the paddle board and had so much fun! The views of the lake and sunset were breathtaking! We enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making hot dogs on the fire pit at night and liked having dinner on the outside deck. The neighbors were quiet. The stay was very relaxing for us. It was also nice to have the store right across the street. The place was small, but clean, and had everything we could possibly need throughout our stay. The beds were comfortable and it was nice having the AC window units in the bedrooms. We will definitely stay here again!

Clean, everything works and no problems.
The house is on a nice part of the lake. In the summer heat it's 10 degrees cooler on the point usually. The view is beautiful, and Houghton Lake is my favorite lake in Michigan.

Very nice, quiet location right on the lake. Party store across the street.
Cottage was nice, beds comfy but very small for 4 people. Felt cramped and ran out of hot water when we all took showers. Stove was mini/apartment size and only one skillet so trying to cook was challenging. No grill but fortunately we brought our own. Tv was very small and the grass needed cut. Many things we liked, we caught lots of fish, enjoyed the view, and nice dock for our boats. Had there been just 2 of us, we would have had no complaints really. Would suggest adding some cookware and a larger tv, and perhaps some more details to cleaning. Please know that despite a few inconveniences, we had a great time! Thank you.
