Amazing location

We loved our stay. The location is gorgeous and was a perfect base for our extended family to explore the area. We especially loved the view and the lightning storm one night. The house was clean and well-equipped and it isn’t far to the town of Hot Springs to go to the grocery store.

Peaceful and Well Located

My friend, her son and I had a wonderful stay at this property. It was clean and comfortable with plenty of land for peace and quiet. The sky was big and the views were fantastic. This property is well located too. Only 10 minutes from Hot Springs where we dined mostly. And to the north are so many attractions and parks which we enjoyed very much. Lastly, I would like to say the communication was great: fast and helpful replies.

Peaceful Getaway

This was a very peaceful getaway. It was very roomy for 2 couples. Bedrooms are nice sized. Bathrooms are also really nice. We didn't use the loft bedroom but it looked really nice. The views are awesome. They had all kinds of deer on the property. It was a great stay.

Great spot!

We stayed at Wind Cave Cabin with 2 adults and 4 kids under 10 and it was awesome. After a busy day out and about (mostly in the car!), it was so nice to let the kids just run around the house and outside. The location is just south of Wind Cave National Park, so it was really convenient for all the sights we wanted to see. Would highly recommend!

BEST CABIN RENTAL EVER

Owner communicates quickly and well. Property/cabin was in excellent shape when we arrived, and no issues during our stay. Location is perfect for a black hills visit and offers privacy and peace when u need to rest. Could not have asked for anything better.

clean, well-equipped , spacious cabin

We had nine people staying and with three levels, no one felt on top of each other. Very clean. Everything we needed was here, extra towels for the hot tub, dish soap, trash bags, etc. Location was great, right at Wind Cave NP entrance. Very nicely decorated. Be aware rates are for six guests, additional guests extra.

Real escape

This cabin is set far back from the road amid pine trees, with an open vista to the grassland at the front. Great views, bordering on Wind Cave NM. Lots of wildlife, gorgeous sunsets. Truly an escape from the stresses of life. There are a lot of stairs, which is a bit challenging for older folk - kitchen is on the "second" floor, so you can't avoid climbing at least one flight. Otherwise, pretty perfect.

Wonderful

We had a wonderful vacation stay at the Wind Cabin! The home is comfortable, very clean, and the owners provided everything that we could possible need! There were 4 adults in our group, my husband and I and our two adult daughters. There was plenty of space for everyone and we appreciated all the extra towels! We cooked most of our meals- there are two grocery stores nearby in Hot Springs! We enjoyed mornings and afternoons on the large deck and the daily visits of deer, turkeys, and even the buffalo next door! The home is conveniently situated to all the major attractions in the southern Black Hills! I would highly recommend the home and a visit to Hot Springs! We had an amazing stay!

Beautiful and peaceful

We loved this place. It was so nice to come back here each day and grill burgers and chicken for our evening meals. We loved eating dinner outside with the beautiful scenery. At night we sat out on the porch or patio and read. The weather was absolutely beautiful. During our stay we went to Jewel Cave, Mount Rushmore and Cosmos. We picked up groceries from Sonny's Super Foods in Hot Springs. One day we stopped at Black Hills Burger and Bun Company in Custer. The burgers were fabulous. This place had everything we needed. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place with an excellent location. I would love to come back! Anita, Jim, David (16), and Anna (13) Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Perfect little retreat

Great place for my family of six visiting the Black Hills for the week. The property was just as it was listed by the owners. Easy check-in and check-out. Grocery store relatively close in nearby Hot Springs, so we were able to stock up during first night with everything we needed for the week. Plenty of room for my wife and I and our four kids, ages 11-17. Gas grill was nice for cooking some of our dinners, and electric griddle came in handy for our breakfasts. The Black Hills themselves were amazing and will be a trip we’ll never forget. Can’t sum it up all here, but in short: Mt Rushmore; Crazy Horse; Custer State Park (Blue Bell horse rides were awesome); Wind Cave National Park (although the elevators were down all week so unfortunately we weren’t able to go down into the cave - but there are still trails and wildlife to see at the park); Custer; Hot Springs (including Mammoth Site), Deadwood; the Badlands (perhaps best part of the trip); and all of this no more than a couple of hours from the cabin (some of it within less than 10 minutes). Wildlife seen included: bison; pronghorn; deer; prairie dogs; coyotes; turkeys; bighorn sheep (deer and bighorn were visible from the property); and more. Overall, a great trip, for which the cabin was a great home base. Highly recommended.

Perfect for family vacation!

This was our first time using VRBO, and it was an exceptional experience! We visited in mid-October during a Minnesota school break. The listing was perfectly accurate, the property was very clean and well-maintained, and it was well-stocked for a family of seven to stay there. The cabin was decorated to reflect the history and style of the region. The property owners have a manager who provided great customer service prior to our visit - she was patient with all of our questions and responded to us by email and by phone. We are city dwellers who truly appreciated staying in a cabin that allowed us to experience the calm peacefulness of the western South Dakota wilderness. We saw bison, deer, rabbits, and birds from the deck every day. The magnificent sunrises and sunsets were a highlight for all family members - from grandparents to grandchildren ages 7 & 9. The night sky without light pollution was a novel experience for some of us. The cooks enjoyed the spacious kitchen and gas grill, the kids were happy to have a wii and air hockey table, and the adults really liked the hot tub on cool evenings. We were pleased to be away from the highly-touristed areas (though October isn't an especially busy time in the Black Hills), and yet we were within driving distance of sites like Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Bear Country, Rapid City attractions, the Badlands, the Mammoth Site and Wind Cave National Park. There are two grocery stores in Hot Springs, which is about five miles from the cabin. When we asked out children what they liked best about our Black Hills vacation, they agreed that the cabin was the best part. The price was reasonable - we would have paid about the same amount for seven people to stay in a hotel, which would have been much less comfortable and definitely less charming. Without hesitation, we would recommend the Wind Cave Cabin to friends, relatives and strangers!
