The property was lovely. It was clean and the staff was friendly. The location was very convenient to shops, restaurants, churches and the ferry. Be aware that it's a small property without an elevator. So you will need to climb some stairs which may be a challenge for some, especially on the upper floors. No coffee maker available in the rooms. The one Kettle to be used by all guests was missing, most days.

We loved our stay at horta garden. We generally like to interact with locals and have peace and quiet so that we can rest after doing outdoor activities all day. Horta garden fit that explanation perfectly. The Cafe downstairs is convenient and there are tons of local food options close by. This hotel was about a 20 minute walk to the scuba diving shop and I thought it might be an issue, but honestly we loved the walk in the early mornings. There is no lift in the hotel and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful room on the third floor with a view of Pico mountain, if you have bad knees it might be best to stay on floor 1. The hotel to our delight has a fully stocked kitchen and fridge, water machine for both cold and hot water AND free laundry machine with detergent provided by the hotel. We didn't see staff except for the day of check in, but we were gone all day most days. It was easy to get ahold of the hotel staff using the phone numbers and WhatsApp - I recommend that route if you need to get ahold of them. Also ask for the central taxi service phone number before the day you need to fly out. This was exactly what we needed and wanted. Thank you Horta Garden, we will be back. To other travelers there is a very kind French man named Jean who eats at the cafe in the mornings, he knows the entire island and we met him on our first morning there. Make friends with him, you won't regret following his recommendarions 😊

I highly recommend Horta Garden when visiting Faial. Excellent location, only 10 minute walk to ferry and 15 minute walk to center of Horta. Coffee shop had wonderful breakfast food which was included in price of room. They also have a small kitchen which is perfect to chill bottle of wine for when sitting on patio after a fun day. Place was very clean and staff very professional and pleasant. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Faial.

Eher enttäuschend

Für uns war es leider eher enttäuschend. Das Zimmer war kein Deluxezimmer und direkt an der Strasse. Was dann auch zur Folge hatte, dass es sehr lärmig war. Das Bett war sehr hart und unbequem. Im Bad herrschte ein komischer Geruch und wir hatten Ameisen im Zimmer. Das Frühstück war auch nicht wirklich gut. Man bekommt ein trockenes Sandwich und etwas Süsses. Die Bedienung war extrem unfreundlich. Was aber erwähnt werden muss ist, dass die Dame an der Hotelrezeption freundlich war und uns (nach einem Tag Wartezeit) ein anderes Zimmer gegeben hätte. Da wir uns aber überhaupt nicht wohl fühlten, wechselten wir nach einer Nacht das Hotel. Mir ist ehrlichgesagt nicht klar, wie bei diesem Hotel so viele gute Bewertungen zustande kommen. Natürlich, man bezahlt auch nicht viel. Erhält dafür aber auch nicht viel Komfort.

Great place

Great hotel near the ferry. Room smallish but super clean. Bathroom clean and new and modern. Breakfast included in bakery under the hotel was great. Recommend this place to anyone.

A lovely hotel, with friendly and welcomong staff. Super comfortable bed and room just the right size. Side point, for free parking you should park off the seafront and walk round to the hotel (2 mins max), the adjoining square is 30 mnis parking only
