White furniture—some of it custom-built with high-quality carpentry— along with seawater-blue accents, light-colored hardwood floors, an elegant bathroom, and a kitchen that’s downright lavishly designed and equipped by holiday standards—all of these elements make “Käpt’n Hörnchen” a charming exception that’s guaranteed to quickly win over a loyal following (or has already done so).

The location is quiet, with no through traffic; if you listen closely, on days with a westerly wind you can even hear the sound of the sea from here, because—once you’re through the dunes—it’s less than 600 metres to the beach. It’s also just a leisurely 10-minute walk to the harbour, Lund Bakery, the restaurants, and the shops, as well as to the Budersand Golf Club, the legendary links course. It’s 17 kilometres to the island’s capital; the bus stop is right “out front” on the high street, just a short walk “around the corner.”
