The Giggle Fish~Beachfront- Pet Friendly Hood Canal Getaway

Welcome to Giggle Fish on Hood Canal! Our waterfront beach home is the ideal place to relax and take in the peaceful views of Hood Canal. With three bedrooms, it comfortably accommodates six people. Our property is fenced all the way around and is pet friendly. There are many places to relax, inside and out. With decks off both the beach cabin and the boat house, you can find both sun and shade during the summer months. The outdoor area offers plenty of seating, a fire pit, a lawn for playing, and easy access to the beach. In the winter months, the inside area is a cozy spot for relaxation. Play a board game, read a book, or cook a nice meal in our well appointed kitchen. From all the windows, you’ll enjoy watching the various wildlife from bald eagles, herons and other seabirds, to seals, sea lions, and even the occasional whale.

Just north of the town of Hoodsport, our location offers quick access to grocery and restaurant options as well as plenty of outdoor activities. There is wonderful hiking throughout the Olympic National Forest and at nearby lakes. Hoodsport is a scuba diving paradise, as we are very close to Sund Rock Marine Preserve. A short drive north brings you to Hama Hama Oyster Saloon, a fun place to enjoy outdoor dining on local eats, or to purchase local shellfish. There are also golf courses and casinos nearby. Of course once you walk through the gate of the property, you may not want to leave!
*Please note that there is parking for 2 cars. Parking is between the fenced yard and Highway 101, and is narrow. *

Gorgeous Waterfront Property!

6 adults and 2 pups had a great time! Wish we could have stayed longer. We had all sorts of weather, but still enjoyed the fire pit through it all! The stars shone so brightly at night. We all want to come back in the summer when Hoodsport must be a hopping little town! Thank you for having us.

They've thought of everything here!

You feel very well taken care of here. Everything is provided, the location is so pretty right on the water and we loved the fenced yard for our little dog. The third bedroom and second bathroom in the listing is in a little separate cabin and would be so fun for a group. Parking is on a busy road but it was fine for us. We were there in February so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor area but it would be amazing in better weather.

Family meet up on Hood Canal

Usually we stay in a family cabin but this year we were having an anniversary so several of us found other properties to stay in. Giggle Fish offered a very comfortable house in a great location for our group. Plenty of room for the kids to move about and Grandma loved the boathouse cabin. We did the things we usually love at Hood Canal: kayaking, hiking at Staircase, easy grocery shopping and looking around Hoodsport and just sitting by the water enjoying every moment. Giggle Fish had everything we needed and more to have a great, relaxing time!

Close to Hama Hama where we picked up fresh oysters and crab which we prepared in the very well appointed kitchen. The property is fully fenced, but keep in mind if you have a small-medium dog, there are large gaps along the freeway side of the fence that are VERY large. We didn't feel comfortable having our dog off-leash in the yard which made for some realllllly cold potty breaks since it snowed while we were there. Would be great to add a hot tub to this property. Overall, lovely place!

Can't wait to come back - don't want to leave

Jolene is a fantastic host. Although we got off to a bit of a rocky start with checking in and getting a hold of each other (COVID-19 played a huge part of this), the place upon moving in was spotless. and in the days of COVID-19 it was extremely important. We do appreciate the in person check up to make sure all was good. This is our 3rd time here and will be coming back here throughout the summer and fall. It is a great place to have have the 2 small dogs given a fully fenced yard, and waiting up to the waves of Hood Canal was breathless. The amenities were great; the only thing to bring is your own food. Even though the house sits right on highway 101, the noise from the road is minimal. thank you Jolene!

Hoodsport getaway

The place was great..for the money we spent there were a few disappointmenting things: 1. We were getting low on toilet paper and dish soap..even though they provided it, we ran out.. I called the property Management company and was told we don't get any more..they refused to send house cleaning to refill the items.. 2. 2 large windows have been compromised..the windows need to be replaced because you can see the beautiful water and scenery. 3. They do provide kayaks however the foot pedals were missing and one of the kayaks were very small for an adult. Overall the stay was very good and the kitchen was completely equipped with everything you could imagine.. We own 2 vacation rentals ourselves and one of them is operated by a property Management company..I expect more from Vacation 365 then they provided.

Wonderful Olympic Waterfront Experience

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay in the Giggle Fish home was the highlight of our Pacific Northwest vacation. Our family loved the beautiful views including seals and the cute little 1 bedroom boat house. We collected oysters on the beach and the kids loved the kayaks. The owners have made the most of their amazing outdoor areas -- lounge chairs, outdoor sitting areas, and a great firepit. Gigglefish is simply wonderful! We had a bit of confusion with the housekeeping at checkout but the management company resolved it quickly. For those planning to make Gigglefish the base for their explorations of Olympic National Park, although it is a beautiful location, it is 3-4 hours drive from the Olympic Nat'l Park highlights (Ho Rain Forest and Hurricane Ridge). There are some Olympic NP trails within a 15 minute drive, but to get to the north or west side of the park is a very long slog. Choose Giggle Fish if you want to experience what relaxed Washington 'coastal living' is like.

Pure Relaxation!

What a great spot! We were heading up to Port Townsend for a week of vacation and decided to spend a weekend here on our way up. Such a nice, relaxing way to kick off our trip! We had unseasonably rainy weather for September, but it was still a wonderful weekend. This is a beautiful place, rain or shine. Spent hours gazing out at the water from the nice, comfy sofa in the living room -- multiple Great Blue Heron sightings and even a Bald Eagle, too! Made a pot of chili in the well-appointed kitchen and watched our fill of college football on the nice flat-screen. For outings, took a quick drive up to Hama Hama for some fresh oysters and prawns, did a tasting and tour at the new local distillery in Hoodsport, and made a visit to Shelton to check out their local brewery and Xinh's Clam & Oysterhouse (if the geoduck at Xinh's is good enough for Anthony Bourdain, it's good enough for me!). Then slept like a baby in the super-comfy (Sleepnumber!) king bed, listening to the waves lap against the shore. Ahhhhhhh. Livin'. Oh, and almost forgot to mention, our dog loved it, too! HUGE fenced yard and a covered porch that was easy to block off to give him plenty of outside time and still keep him out of the rain. We will definitely be back!

Nice house noisy location

The house is very attractive and well equipped with a lovely deck overllooking the water. Unfortunately it is on a really busy road with big trucks constantly passing starting from quite early in the morning. We arrived in pouring rain and did not have the access code as it had been sent to the wrong email, and the VRBO communication function was not working so had to call several times to reach the agent to get the code. There were problems with the water supply to the surrounding houses and our water was turned off while the neighbours tried to fix things, which was ok as we went out so they could complete. The agent kindly offered to bring extra water but we said we did not need but appreciated the offer. Communication on departure was also disappointing the booklet in the house said vacate by 12pm and the app with our booking details said depart by 11am - we rang 3 times and spoke to the person at the agency who had no information and said she would speak to the correct person and confirm, we never received a call back so left by 11am leaving the house tidy as requested. Our overall view is that we liked the house but the location was not as good as we had hoped due to noise We did visit laske cushon in the nearby state park and found a lovely restaurant in a hotel in Union which was nice as we were there for my birthday and there was very little choice in Hoodsport unless you wanted basic pub food.

So relaxing

The view from every room was spectacular! Spent most of the time on the huge deck where we saw a bald eagle the first morning. Also saw orcas and sea lions. And stargazing was amazing. We had plenty of room for our family of five and bonus was the incredible fenced yard so we felt very comfortable letting our two dogs roam, which they absolutely loved. Plus there was a scooper and hose for messes in the yard. Loved the bonus boat house bedroom and access to the beach. The road was pretty busy on the weekend but the sound gets muffled by the sounds of the water. Great little town with grocery store nearby and excellent hamburger/teriyaki/ice cream place and the best little pizza place just a mile or so up the road. Checkin was easy, beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked, and did I mention the view!! Hoping to make this an annual vacay. Already miss having coffee on the deck staring at the water.
