A 12' aluminum row boat and three adult kayaks included in rental.

This spectacular rental is a natural oasis from a busy world, yet accessible to many of northwest Michigan's popular tourist destinations. The house can sleep up to 10 people comfortably. The master bedroom is a loft area with view of the lake with king bed and private bathroom. The main level has 2 private bedrooms both with Queen beds and 1 shared bathroom. The finished lower level of the house has a private kids bunk room and a pull out couch with queen bed in the entertainment room with a full bath on that level.

Lake views can be enjoyed from the main living area and spacious deck with picnic table and outdoor furniture. Relax and let the stress of everyday life disappear as you hear the gentle waves hitting the shore while sipping your morning coffee in the screened three seasons room. This house has a very large yard leading to the lake - perfect for outdoor games. The dock has a seating area and ladder and is accessible to some of the deepest water on Big Platte Lake. You will find plenty of basic fishing poles and equipment inside the garage for your use. A 12' aluminum row boat and three adult kayaks are also available to use at your own risk.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish

Check the beach and fire pit area for any trash or personal items. Put any trash in trash bins located next to the street.
Return kayaks to rack and ensure paddles are secured. Return life jackets, beach toys, beach chairs to location in garage.
Wash and return any used beach towels to cabinet in the entertainment room.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Rules

The grill MUST be kept in garage overnight to keep the local wildlife at bay. Trash to be placed in bins by the street for Thursday morning pick-up.
The renter and guests of renter accept ALL risk due to use of the house, deck, dock, water access, or any equipment used while on the property.
Please rinse and shake off all sandy clothes/items outdoors and hang any wet towels to dry.

Great vacation

This was our second stay at this house, and once again we absolutely loved it. Beautiful house and location, and there are plenty of amenities to make for a great and comfortable stay.

Great family vacation

Excellent location on Platte Lake

We loved our stay on Platte Lake. The backyard beach and dock were great for our family. The owners were quick to respond to any questions I had prior to our arrival. Being able to dock our boat right in the back yard was a huge plus for us. Would definitely consider staying here again!

Nice views and lake location. Home water not so great, bathrooms small and home needs some updating. Enjoyed outside activities and the general area. Manager was great.

Fun on Platte Lake

The family had a great time at Wha'Cha Dune! Property was clean and had everything we needed. We liked the downstairs area, the beach and neighbors were nice too. Would definitely recommend.

Annual Up-North

Very nice home on Big Platte Lake. We enjoyed the lake, nearby Frankfort,and the firepit down by the water. Nice to be somewhere different (than Glen Arbor). Owners provide nice additional amenities -- beach towels, water shoes, kayaks and a row boat. They were very responsive and helpful during our stay. We would stay there again.

We had some family up for our 50 th anniversary and all had a great time. Fire pit is in a perfect location and the yard quite large. The location is great with plenty to do in all directions! The house has a great floor plan and has plenty of room. It is also stocked very well

Wonderful lake house

We had the best family vacation at this home! The view was perfect, the lake was delightful, and the neighbors were friendly. We were able to rent a pontoon boat and enjoy tubing and fishing. Overall, a very relaxing week, and we would recommend this home to rent. Well stocked with cooking necessities, plenty of towels and personal care items.The general location was very good, close to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, and Frankfort. The owners even left a treat bag for us upon arrival!

This is truly an outstanding property on Platte Lake! We have stayed at many different properties over 40+ years, and this rates as good as we’ve had. The owners were responsive, the house was perfect for our family- 6 adults and 5 little ones- 7-11 yrs old The house size, deck, back yard, beach, and dock all fit our needs to make it a wonderful vacation- we’ll be back!

Platte Lake Paradise

Beautiful property. Perfect fit for my family! The hosts had a well stocked home. Toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, bath towels, lovely sheets, you name it, whatcha dune had it! Just bring your bathing suits and you’re all set. The kitchen was a bit tight, since 5 out of 7 of us like to cook! But we managed. Close to Lake Michigan for beautiful sunsets, nearby Riverside for canoeing out to the lake, and close to Traverse City and Frankfort for some shopping and good food. We all had a blast from ages 6-74!

Perfect lake house

Me, my husband, adult kids and sister in law stayed here for 4 nights and had a terrific time. Everything was perfect - the location, accommodations and especially the beautiful lake with private dock and small sandy beach. We were all happily surprised how well stocked the house was. You only need to bring clothes and food. We used the row boat, kayaks and fishing gear. There was even a goody bag for us. Any time I reached out to owners I quickly got a response back. We had a small emergency before we left for our trip and the owners were so kind and understanding by accommodating our special request. The home was immaculate too. Do not hesitate to rent this place!! You will love it.

Serene Lake Retreat

Our family stayed at Wha'Cha Dune the last week of August, 2024. We found the property to be as-described in the VRBO listing. The property is well-treed, which provides a sense of privacy, and there is plenty of room between the house and the lake to allow for pretty much any outdoor activities one might enjoy. There is a nice dock from which to fish or swim, and some watercraft (3 kayaks, one rowboat) which, although obviously well-used, provide additional recreation opportunities. The large back deck overlooking the water is a nice place to relax and enjoy the view, and the fire pit near the shoreline is a great place for nighttime gatherings. The lake temperature is a bit cool but definitely refreshing for swimming. It is mostly sandy-bottom near shore but gets weedy out just past the dock. Fishing action was unfortunately slow during our stay, with only fingerling perch and an occasional goby taking the bait. The interior, though dated, was comfortable and all systems were in working order. Note to larger families who like to cook at home: The kitchen is quite small, with room for only one ‘chef’ at a time to work the stove or do prep work. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Perfect Lake House

Our family of 7 adults and 1 infant fit comfortably well. Great location, close to Frankfort and the Sleeping Bear National Park. Would stay there again.

Wonderful house! It was perfect for our family of five with three kids plus two grandparents. The beach is awesome - our two year old LOVED it, and the shallow warm clear water provided great swimming every day for the big kids. The house was spotless and stocked with everything we could need - plenty of towels, beach towels, kitchen supplies, bug spray and sunscreen, life jackets etc. Fantastic place on the best lake!

Great fishing location

We caught a bunch of bass and perch from the dock, we were super close to a lot of great Lake Michigan beaches, and for floating down the Platte river.

This property and experience was the best we have ever had. We have been coming to Big Platte for over 30 years. The place was incredible and so well stocked. The owners were so responsive and nice. I could go on and on but just trust me when I say it was a wonderful vacation.

A Perfect Week

This home provided everything needed to make our week on Platte Lake very special. The layout, room sizes, furniture, kitchen and deck were perfect and easily accommodated our party of 6 adults. The grounds were spacious and the dock and lakefront access served our pontoon boat and wave runner very well.

Great place!

This is a wonderful property. Perfect location on the lake with all the necessary amenities. It is quite spacious and comfortable with something for everyone. The owners were terrific to work with and always responded quickly to any questions. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our vacation time which ended all too soon.

Wonderful family vacation up north

This was our second time renting this home. We loved the location as it felt private yet was near the places we like to visit when we go up north. The weather was perfect for enjoying outdoor activities during our stay but the home was well stocked with books, games and a large television (which we never turned on!!) for rainy days. We hope to visit again!
