Aware gates closed 11.00pm and as on a late arrival from Sydney made alternative arrangements.. First thing next morning arrived to check in only to find the room occupied, thou we had pre paid from the night before..
Having asked if we could see the room … unable as people were asleep in there?
When asked to see the shared bathroom facilities? gents was in the same block however, women's bathroom was downstairs … across a courtyard … and then upstairs in another building …. nothing undercover from the elements??
On arrival was directed to Reception which was draped in laundry and fans blowing?
The site and views of Hong Kong harbour were amazing however it was confirmed they could not request a taxi and only means of transport was the shuttle bus …. very limited first in??
Have stayed in YH …. expecting budget (it was the location we were after) however, after looking in the room next door (people still asleep in our room).. the lack of basic clean and acceptable hospitality facilities was zero …. just so disappointing …. and more than anything why this type of accommodation and facilities are being offered? in such a vibrant city as Hong Kong, you would think made to persist with international acceptable standards. Needless to say, we didn't stay and forfeited our money finding alternative accommodation. I wonder if anyone from the Hong Kong Jockey Club YH has stayed there?? That would be interesting!!
