We come down and fish every year about this time. This house was perfect for us. Communication with the homeowner could not have been better. We would definitely book it again
We loved staying at this home! Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen ( perfect size coffee mugs!) and the access to the water was great. Everything was clearly labeled and easy to follow directions were in the house. It all felt brand new. Having the dock and being able to use the kayaks was the icing on the cake! The host was responsive and available for questions. Would absolutely stay here again!.
Location of the house can be a bit tricky to find but is worth the effort. The property is the nicest home on the street and is exactly as shown on the VRBO website. The house is very clean and has plenty of cookware, glasses, etc. Our family of 8 had ample room to stretch out and the dining area easily seated all of us. Floyd, the owner, is very responsive to requests for information and help and was easy to reach.
We have allergies to animals. This property was listed as pet free and was just that. Other places we've stayed claim to be pet free but are not. The house was impeccably clean.
Well appointed home in a good location. Close to local spots and very clean. Nice having the canal out back to kayak on... and kayaks available to use. Home was very comfortable. Would come back again!
This was our second time staying at this location. The property is clean and well maintained, the owner is responsive to questions, and the location is great!
Great house and location. My family and I had a great time. Easy canal to bring your boat. We saw manatees and dolphins from the back dock! Wonderful vacation.
We had a wonderful time amazing home, kitchen fully stocked. On the canal was really great. Probably the nicest rental we have been in. It was such a blessing for our Family.
This property was amazing! The location was perfect for us. A bit of a kayak to the Springs, but the kayaks were fun for daily exploring. The kitchen was well appointed, beds comfortable, outdoor space wonderful. One small issue and owners were very responsive and delightful. Well maintained and immaculately clean property. Hope to stay again!
The house was neat as could be upon check in and everything was just as described. We launched our boat at the ramp and brought it back to tie up at the dock which made it very convenient for trips to the gulf and the springs. Beds are very comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Host was quick to respond to inquiries. Our group was 4 adults over 60 for the first 3 nights. Friends left and children came in on Tuesday which made us 6 adults and 2 boys age 3. The open floor plan is spacious and the two and a half baths were a definite plus. We would stay here again. Owner has no control over the next bit, but renters should be aware that, next door, folks are staying in a camper on weekends and running a generator 24 hours. There is also new construction right across the canal. Work didn’t begin before 8 am and was silent on Sunday. This did not interfere with our enjoyment of the home and we would recommend to family and friends. Over all a nearly perfect week!
We had a rough time here, unfortunately.
Check in was not seamless, but we got it figured out.
After getting in to the house we felt like the temp was hot (central Florida, close to a 90 degree day, house was at 80 degrees when we check in) so we dropped the thermostat temp to 70 and waited for things to cool off. Long story short, they never did.
We finally realized the A/C was broken on the second day, called/texted the host, did not hear back. The next day we called/texted again and he finally responded. A/C tech was not able to come until the next day so on day 3 of no A/C.
Repairman comes and says part won't be available for 2 more days. So on day 5 of no A/C at this point. Part finally comes in...broken. So we stayed the whole time with no A/C.
Was it the hosts fault? I don't know how closely he follows his A/C maintenance schedule so I have no idea. Was it an inconvenience? Yes. Did it turn out as poorly as possible? Yes.
Thankfully the host offered *some* refund, after we spent 3.5 hours on the phone with VRBO (which was the action the host told us to take) to no avail. Calling VRBO was like the worst gaslighting experience you have ever had, with a company that takes zero responsibility. The host was not at all knowledgeable about the process and doesn't seem to know what his responsibility is versus the company he works with. But like I said, ultimately after some negotiating we got some refund on our total stay.
There were also biting bugs in the house.
What a beautiful, well-kept property! It was so clean and well equipped with kitchen items, nice kayaks and comfortable beds. It had great, calm water access and is close to the restaurants on the water. The owner was very helpful and communicated with us right away. I would just suggest providing a few extra towels and pillows.
We had previously secured a different vacation rental in Cape Coral which, sadly, was impacted by Hurricane Ian. I was so happy to find this one in Homosassa was still available! It was perfect for our group. Everyone had their own space, it was pristine clean, quiet and the space for our boat was perfect! Even the fish cooperated! LOL We had visited years ago in Homosassa and loved going back. The Hosts were very responsive and graciously allowed us to check in a little earlier. The beds were comfortable - we slept very well! I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to experience or revisit Old Florida in Homosassa. It's the perfect jumping off spot!
