15 minutes to CBD and Salamanca/Battery Point with connections to MONA ferry. Local 401 Bus connects to southern coastal suburbs and two km to Wrest Point and University.
Sonningview is also a convenient base for day trips outside Hobart. Half day trips to Coal River region for wineries and historic Richmond.
Further afield exploring Huon and Bruny Island is a 40 min drive via the Southern Outlet. And Port Arthur historic site a 90 min drive.

Wonderful place to stay , lovely outlook (from the bed) to the garden & Mt Wellington. Very thoughtful little extras ( Jamdrops provided by the host ) bus stops nearby , great views of the Derwent from the front of the house.
A fab self-contained garden apartment in a beautiful suburb of Hobart. Good parking and easy access to public transport, Hobart CBD and Sandy Bay facilities. Wonderful support and communication from host Janina. We can't recommend this accommodation enough to all ages adults.
We had a lovely stay at this apartment overlooking the private garden. Loved the occasional chirping of birds otherwise a very quiet spot. Comfy beds. Our hosts Janina and Gary were very welcoming
So comfortable, convenient, beautifully presented. Very helpful hosts, warm welcoming and full of great information. As a midwinter location, the views were a gift.
It was one of the best places I have stayed, the hosts Janina and Gary can not do enough for you. Met on arrival offered to carry our luggage, very wam people went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable. Was surprised how big the flat was and spotlessly clean

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sandy Bay. It was within easy reach of Hobart CBD, local restaurants and great shopping. Janina and Gary are thoughtful, friendly and considerate hosts and helped us feel right at home. The garden is a jewel, full of color and beautiful plants and the apartment very comfortable. We hope to return on our next visit to Hobart.
Beautiful location, we were well looked after, arriving late (8.30pm instead of 4 as flight was delayed) in gale winds, Janina gifted us eggs and bacon to cook up for our evening meal, which was soo appreciated!
Garden and views were special, and accomodation was neat and clean with all amenities provided. Janina and Gary were lovely souls who kept us up to date with local events and places to eat/visit. Highly recommend staying here xx

Excellent accommodation. Very homely and comfortable.
Lovely garden to relax in and enjoy.
Only one thing required is a larger blanket for the bed. It was a double and a queen size would have been warmer.
Janina and Gary are warm and welcoming hosts who have put so much thought into making their guests feel very much at home. The flat is fantastic and very comfortable, surrounded by a beautiful garden. The area is close to the beach and supermarkets and eateries. Views are amazing. City is close by and with a car there are so many daytrips possible. Our hosts were very helpful with great suggestions on places to visit and best ways to enjoy this lovely city.
Overall was good. Janina was just lovely and accommodating. She provided tea, coffee, milk, biscuits etc. Everything supplied and bed was comfortable. You would assume the photo shown in the advertisement was the view from the accommodation. However it's the view from the house in front so we found this a little disappointing. Overall not overly roomy but as I said everything supplied.
Really enjoyed our stay in Sandy Bay. Lovely hosts, who were very prompt with their communication and showed great hospitality during our stay. Great biscuits. Highly recommended and would stay again !

Fantastic stay
We enjoyed our stay at the cosy Sonningview cottage very much with fantastic and generous hosts. Lovely garden and the cottage is located close to public transport and shops.
