About this property
Woodland Trails Lodge on 130 acres with ponds and miles of private trails
Woodland Trails' Lodge was built in 2003 to be an upscale B & B and has been meticulously maintained since. It is now available for your exclusive use. The Great Room is a perfet place for your friends and family to gather. The wood-burning fireplace, with wood provided, adds cozieness.
The dining room has seating for everyone, and the kitchen is fully equipped.
The view out the windows is of wildlife, including deer, and birds at the feeders. Our private pond is a big figure "8" that makes for an enjoyable trip around on one of our paddle boats or canoe.
The seven bedrooms are all spacious, have a private bath, comfortable seating area with electric fireplace and a private deck or patio. Six of the baths also have a whirlpool tub. Each bedroom is perfect for quiet time, to take a nap or read a book.
The Owners' Suite, with bedroom, bath and living room is on the main floor. It is perfect for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. Four bedrooms are located on the 2nd floor. They are the Winterberry, Royal Fern, Aspen and Red Oak. The St. Croix and Sugar Maple Rooms are located on the lower, walk-out level.
Five of the bedrooms have king-size beds. The Red Oak as a queen-size and the Sugar Maple has two twin beds and a private bath with shower but no tub.
We have miles of private trails on our wooded land. Outside of snow season, golf carts are provided for touring in comfort.
Bring your four-wheelers or snowmobiles. We have plenty of parking. Our trails are reserved for hiking, snowshoeing and our complimentary golf carts but, in Pine County, it is legal to ride ATVs and Four-Wheelers on the roadside to a major trail system 1/2 mile north of the Lodge.
While our address is Hinckley, we are located 23 miles east of Hinckley, near the St. Croix River and the Wisconsin border. We are just four miles from Danbury, Wisconsin.
We are an easy two-hour drive from the Twin Cities, St. Cloud or Eau Claire and just over an hour from Duluth.
Besides enjoying the view, perhaps with a real-wood fire in the fireplace, guests enjoy watching the birds at feeders outside.
Your well-behaved one or two dogs are welcome.
Two casinos are nearby: St. Croix Casino in Danbury and Grand Casino in Hinckley.
Canoeing and tubing on the St. Croix and Namekagan Rivers through Pardun Conoe Rental in Danbury.
Four-wheeling? Bring yours or rent from Throttle RX Rentals in Danbury.
St. Croix State Park, Minnesota's largest, has activities in every season. Crex Meadows Wildlife Area in Grantsburg has great wildlife watching, particularly during spring and fall migrations. Forts Folle Avoine in Webster, Wisconsin is a reproduction of an 1803 fur trading post.

We have stayed at Woodland Trails many times before, and every time, I am so impressed with the host - how responsive they are if we have any questions or needs, and how well they maintain the house and surrounding property. It is such a perfect place to just getaway, unplug in beautiful surroundings and enjoy all of the deer, wild turkeys, birds (including the pileated woodpecker).
Fantastic! The 5 King size bedrooms with comfy beds for all of us All of the amenities, the golf carts, the paddle boats, the large table, so we could all eat together & the screened in porch Such a wonderful place to stay thank you so very much for allowing us to share your beautiful home with us. We would love to return next year.
This is the fourth year in a row that we have stayed at the Woodland Trails Lodge. The property and the lodge are kept in excellent shape. There is plenty to do on the property so that you could spend your entire time just on the property. My grandkids (2 and 4 years old) really enjoy the golf carts and the paddle boats. The kitchen is large with every appliance you would ever need. The main rooms have comfortable chairs and couches to relax in. The bedrooms are all large and beds/furniture is comfortable. The hosts and caretakers are readily available and very friendly. We have already made our reservation for next year.
The photos and descriptions simply do not do this place justice. It was perfectly clean, the trails were well maintained, too. We decided to make this an annual trip. Thank you!
Everything about the Lodge was wonderful and welcoming.
The kids had a great time on the trails with the golf carts. The hosts have really tried to provide all the amenities we could possibly need.
Our family had another great stay at Woodland Trails. It is a superior value for all of the amenities that come with the property. The property has a lot to offer all age groups; I don't know who enjoyed our stay more; my wife and I, our kids or our Grandkids. Our family has already booked next year's vacation here. John, Sandra and the property management team are the best.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lodge had spacious rooms, amazingly soft sheets, and plenty to do. The amenities were excellent and we felt this was a prime hospitality experience. We hope to be back soon!
Love this place! Everything is thought of, well stocked kitchen and we made all our meals here. So clean. Friendly staff. Great location with hiking. Saw so many deer! I have absolutely nothing negative to say! Recommend 100%.
We spent Thanksgiving with 7 kids and 6 adults. My elderly parents loved the main floor bedroom. The kids loved being downstairs. We all loved having our own bathrooms! The kitchen was amazing and had everything we need for Thanksgiving.
The lodge was spectacular and the suites were huge! The grounds were beautiful and we loved seeing the deer and variety of birds. The golf carts and paddle boats were a hit and everyone had a great time! Lots of wonderful family memories were made with 3 generations. We will definitely be back.
We had a great time. The kids made good use of the golf carts and the trails. Our weather was good and we love the setting of it overall. Kitchen was well equipped and the whole lodge was immaculate. Thanks John and Sandra for another great visit.
They have thought of everything all you need to do is show up. It being a former Bed and Breakfast makes it a perfect set up for multiple couple or families. It is clean, spacious and full of stuff to do.
We will definitely be going back.
We were all so pleased with Wonderland Trail that we want to come back in May. They have thought through all your needs or wants in a big rental. From all the house amenities to feeding the wild life on the property. Each room is comfortably appointed for each family member. We had a great time and plan on returning. Thank You!
This venue was above and beyond our expectations. We used the golf carts daily to explore the property. We used the paddle boats, as well as the fire pit. The staff was friendly and very responsive. The place was spotless. We enjoyed so much we rebooked for next fall.
Beautiful building, location and trails! It was a wonderful place to gather for our yearly retreat. It was nice for each of us to have our own bedroom with a bathroom. The hosts were very responsive with any questions we had. There were many touches that created a very welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for a wonderful place to get away!
Returning group for a little R&R. Slept 10 comfortably, with tons of wiggle room. Beautiful cabin with all of the added features. Hosts are quick to respond to any questions and are very friendly. Don’t miss out on Amelia’s Cafe for breakfast and the Salty Steer for all of your BBQ cravings.
This was our third stay at Woodland Trails and it did not disappoint. Everything was lovely and there was more than enough room for the ten of us to relax. Fall colors were amazing, the area is peaceful and spacious, and there's a grocery store ten minutes away for anything you forgot. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances, cookware, etc. Booked another trip for next year as well!
It was wonderful, everyone had their own ensuit! The house is very large so plenty of room for our party of eleven. The house has everything you need and more for meal prep, huge kitchen and dinning room. The grounds are so beautiful with miles of well groomed trails, fire pit, screen porch, pond with paddle boat. We will be back!
