Great vacation home for families!

Very family friendly and close walk to the beach! Kept kids busy with the pool, trampoline and swing set at the house. Would definitely recommend 😄

Close to beach, shops, and well equipped

Great place to stay, beautiful property that is close to the beach and shopping. We had an issue with the oven, the owner took care of it same day. Looking forward to our next trip to Hilton Head

Great family getaway

We had a wonderful time in Hilton Head Island and at this home. There was plenty of room for our group, 2 families (6 Children and 4 Adults). The only issue was the pool area is nearly impossible to keep free of leaves and debris from the trees. The neighborhood and the beach are amazing.

Spring Break trip

The location at the end of the street was a great place for the kids to ride bikes and play basketball!! Loved the little kiddie pool area for the littler kiddoes. We had a great trip! Thanks again

Great place to stay near the beach

We come to Hilton head every year and this by far was the best place we’ve stayed in. The house had every thing we needed and it was really close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The only thing that was a little annoying was that the pool wasn’t working properly. The owner was quick to respond and had the pool people come by to fix it. We had a great time and we’ll definitely be back again next year.

Great vacation rental for the extended family

Our extended family (3 generations) has been vacationing in Hilton Head every summer for many years, but this was the first time we decided to rent a house instead of small condos. This house was a great choice, had everything we needed. Dawn the owner was very helpful, she was very responsive when we emailed with questions. The kitchen was fantastic, easy for the 8 of us to eat in whenever we wanted. We loved the easy walk to the beach, just a couple of blocks. We also like how close it was to Coligny Plaza - we could bike or walk there.

WE WILL BE BACK!

We have been vacationing at different times a year in Hilton Head. We've been in hotels, condos and other houses. This by far is the best place we have stayed. We were joined by our two daughters and their families. Three grands under the age of 4 had plenty to do and a safe place to be. House was very accommodating with its own pool and short walk to beach. The grands rode in a wagon but it still was a 5 minute walk to beach. Very highly recommended. We hope to come again.

Family Spring Break

We stayed here for spring break and loved it. Our family was 7 total and we had plenty of room. The pool and hot tub were great and very warm. Dawn was super attentive. We had red ants all around the hot tub and she showed up and eliminated them next am. We needed lawn chairs and she had new ones delivered, although we never used them after all. The location is amazing. Short walk to the beach or bike ride and also to Coligny. Very awesome location. Also it’s the last house on street and has a basketball hoop as well, which was a pleasant surprise. Great host and great house and would def recommend for sure.

Great House!

This beach house was fantastic! It didn't feel like a rental; rather it felt like we were staying at a friend's house. The layout was great for our 2 families - 2 king bedrooms, a bunk room, and a queen bedroom, a huge well appointed kitchen, and a great room. It has all of the amenities a family with kids would want - a heated pool (with an outdoor tv), a trampoline, a basketball hoop, a ping pong table, and board games, that kept the kids busy the entire week. It was a short walk to the beach, and the owner provides towels, a beach cart, and beach chairs (none of which I have not seen provided at beach rentals in the past), and we were able to quickly walk or bike to the shops and restaurants at Coligny Plaza which is only .8 miles away. Dawn was in communication throughout the week and was great to work with. When we return to Hilton Head, 1 Mallard will be our 1st choice!

Wonderful family vacation

The description of the property is better than it appears on line. When you walk in it truly feels like home. It was very clean and well maintained. The pool was wonderful. The pool guy came twice while we were there for the week to clean and maintain it. Also the yard was well maintained. The house met all of our needs and then some. All of my grandkids had a blast playing on the trampoline and playing ping pong. The beach is just a couple of blocks which was not a bad walk. Make sure you bring your beach carts so that carrying everything is no bother. We walked to Coligny Plaza one evening. Once again not a bad walk as the sidewalks are nicely hidden in the trees for shade. There is much to enjoy at Coligny so that really you never even have to get in your car at all to enjoy the beach, good food, shopping and most importantly ICE CREAM. I would highly recommend this property

Wonderful Family Vacation Rental

We had a total of 13 in our group (6 kids and 7 adults) and the house had more than enough space for all of us. The convenience of the pool onsite gave us the advantage of lounging around the pool during the heat of the day and the trampoline and play set were great for the kids who ranged in age from 2 yrs to 10 yrs old and with the area fenced in we didn't have to worry about anyone wandering away. It was just a short shady walk to the uncrowded beach. Dawn was very responsive to any questions we had and was even there when part of our group arrived and gave them a tour of the property. Her list of suggested sites to rent bikes from and where to eat was very helpful. My only suggestion might be to add some type of digital clock to the bedrooms if possible. It was a little inconvenient not knowing what time it was throughout the night. We will definitely be back when we travel to Hilton Head again. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Needing some TLC

The home is spacious, open floor plan makes it convenient to have entire family together. Location great, neighborhood quiet and short easy walk to beach. However, the pool area needs a huge amount of work. The furniture all needed completely cleaned before we could use & the nicest furniture needs deep cleaned, we couldn't use it. There's an excess of leaves due that huge tree overhanging over the hot tub & the pool company only uses a blower to push leaves to edges. The pool also needs a deep clean on the bottom. The hot tub control panel is broke, you just have to push buttons until you find jets and the pool light doesn't work. There are broken chairs & too much stuff in the pool area, the beach wagons packed full and has old moldy water sitting in it. The back yard desperately needs landscape cleaned up too overgrown & ping pong table, swing set too dirty to use. The firepit shown in pictures is not there.

Great Stay!

Overall, we were very impressed with the property. Some of the recent reviews talked a lot about the property not being clean or in need of a lot of repairs. We did not notice these problems. The inside of the house was very clean and welcoming! I will say the pool area was in need of some cleaning. We did a lot of cleaning of the pool and pool deck ourselves, but it was no deal breaker. We had a group of 8 adults and 6 kids staying at the property, we all fit nicely! It never felt cramped or overcrowded. The kitchen and open living room made it so easy to have enjoyable conversation. I cannot say enough about how great this house is for kids!! Seriously. There are plenty of games available, books, the outdoor playground, the kid and kiddie pool, and the outside "hiding space" as our kids called it. It was great! The convenience to the uncrowded beach was great. Dawn's response time to messages was great. She was very accommodating of an early check in. She did stop by to check on the status of the large replacement door sitting in the entry way upon our arrival. Unfortunately, she said this would be removed during our stay, but it never was. Not a huge inconvenience. Only a couple of things to help with future stays: the kitchen is in need of some utensils. There wasn't a spatula to use. There was no 9x12 baking pan to use (or any baking pans, just sheets). The washer smells very moldy and collects water in the dispenser with use.

The house is unclean, unorganized, and I’ll-equips. I spent hours cleaning!

The actual house is NOT the one showcased in photos—maybe it was 10 years ago, but they have let the house go. There are no closets or dressers in some bedrooms, there are no vanities in the bathrooms (or they are small and dirty). The pool was so dirty when we arrived, the pool guy said it was unsafe to swim! He was also extremely rude—blaming us for the condition of the pool (not to mention the wasp problem). The owners tried to be responsive—but stopped responding mid-week. They shut me out, and ignored my pleas for help. The cheap wine and hats they delivered in an effort to appease us, were left behind—as they were of poor quality as well! Don’t give me cheap wine, just fix the problems! The kitchen is not well-stocked—no knife would even cut, and there just aren’t the necessary supplies. We ended up buying kitchen utensils, a pot and a frying pan!! The washing machine was growing mold, and the storage room was a mess. I have never written a bad review on VRBO, but this house is such a wreck, the owners have even put it up for sale! We made the best of it, but we were very happy to leave this mess of a house. Don’t waste your hard earned money—despite multiple requests for compensation, the owners continue to ignore me. It was a frustrating experience me and my family. Don’t make the same mistake we did!!

My Honest Opinion

As described/Property Condition: Entryway, kitchen/livingroom, bedrooms beautiful. Fire pit/play area/pool area very nice but packed with leaves etc. TV’s in every room. Good picture, HDMI, USB ports and cable. WIFI timers are in place. Received Spectrum message on all TV’s over several days from approx. 7/8am till approx. 10am stating no WIFI access. The Pepsi machine broken and removed. Inside of pools worn. A contractor came during our stay to assess for a re-plaster. There was significant water damage on one bathroom floor and behind the garbage receptacle in the kitchen and the mini fridge leaked. These were assessed during our stay for inspections. Repairs started the day before we left. Beyond light surface cleaning, washing some linens and sweeping down the pool area it was in decent shape. There is a vacuum, mini broom/dustpan and a utility room with other cleaning agents as well. They provided 3 garbage bags but with a large family that did not last. Contacted the owners they responded right away. During our stay we only found 1 spider and a baby copperhead snake in the pool. Be aware they are common in that area. Suggestion: Provide a full size broom, the mini was hard to wield. Update/restock cleaning products/bags. Rake/remove leaves. Less areas where critters can hide. Cooking utensils: More than enough to cook inside and barbecue outside. Oven and grill worked great! Suggestion: An additional cookie sheet and plastic dinner dishes for the kids would be helpful. Family oriented: There were many books, games, pool toys and a play area inside. Open floor plan for large families and entertaining. Children’s bedroom 3 twin bunks and a double. The pool had lights for swimming in the evening. Suggestion, i would add additional soft lighting around the pool area for safety and ambiance. Beach access: The beach, incredible! A short walk from the house and maybe a handful of people around. Issues: Lack of privacy Sadly in the transition to new ownership several people came over to assess/inspect the home on various days during our stay. Overall a good experience. Staying in this lovely home with all the amenities and direct access to a pool and beach was amazing. The neighborhood, beautiful, serene. Shopping/food in Hilton Head fantastic! You will not be disappointed. This house is sold but Dawn and Brian will continue to manage the property. I would definitely recommend this rental and look forward to revisiting in the near future.

Amazing late summer vacation!

We were looking forward to having a vacation this year to get away from the day-to-day and relax, and this house did not disappoint! Checking in was as easy as confirming online and using the code on the door. We had one little issue and the property manager was extremely responsive and showed up almost immediately to help. The location is amazing it is super close to the beach and even a nice longer walk to the main area of shops and grocery. The house is true to the pictures and was even better that it is so private and we even saw a deer pop up near the backyard. We absolutely will be back next year! Five stars absolutely.

Amazing place for the summer

This was the perfect house for our 4 families to get together with kids from 1 to 11. We walked to Coligny park, 15 minutes away. Easy walk across street to beach also. Pool was great, only suggestion is to offer an electric leaf blower to keep the leaves and pine needles cleaned up. The playground wasn’t used much but could use

Wonderful Beach Vacation and Family Celebration

All of our party was very impressed with 1 Mallard Road. The photos of the property are accurate. It was spacious, relaxing, and comfortable. There were many board games upstairs as well as the pool table and the ping pong table downstairs. There were some books upstairs, also. We like to cook and found the kitchen well stocked with pots and pans, casserole dishes, blender, drip coffee maker and Keurig coffee maker, hand held mixer, toaster, and all manner of plates, bowls, silverware, and glassware. All of our family was comfortable in the bedroom/bathroom assignments. Pump soap was provided in the bathrooms. Recommend bringing shampoo with you. We all enjoyed the pool. It was very nice for our youngest grandchild to have the small pool connection in which to splash safely! We did not use the hot tub because the weather was so nice. The fact that the property is at the end of a street was very helpful as there was minimal traffic. The children were safe walking the couple of blocks to North Beach. We only had to cross one street that had modest traffic. We recommend this property and Host2Coast service. We would book it again. The only thing that could have been better was that we took some kitchen equipment with us that was unneeded because I didn't receive the list of small appliances that I asked for. Now I understand that most everything you could ask for in a kitchen is in this kitchen.
