Quiet neighborhood with plenty of space inside and around the property. Perfect location for travelers looking to visit the various surrounding state and national parks. Would love to stay here again.
Our time at Hill City Hideaway was great! Nice house, great view and quiet setting - and it was just a short drive from all of the black hills destinations we wanted to visit.
The place was awesome it worked out perfect for six adults. We had a great time sightseeing the location was perfect for what we were doing. One of the couples was from Housten TX & just loved sitting outside at night enjoying the stars. The house was roomy for everyone to have their own privacy

Great experience
The location just cant be beat. The owners have made some upgrades since our last stay which are really nice. Kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom and bathroom are on lower level. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with another living room on upper level. It accommodated us very well.
The house was so clean and the lay out was perfect! We had 3 family’s staying including 2 children and we felt we all had plenty of room! Only about 2 miles from Hill City and 15 minutes from Mount Rushmore! It is secluded and quiet and there was plenty of room for the kids to play in the yard! It was a beautiful home that we highly recommended renting! And we will definitely be back again!!

Great!
I normally do not write reviews, but this place definitely warrants one. We had a group of 6 there for a week and we all thought this property was exceptional. Very clean, the kitchen was stocked with the necessary utensils, two refrigerators made for easy food and drink storage (out of the coolers into the fridges). The living space inside is plentiful and comfy, but we barely used either living room because we were nearly always outside under one of the gazebos enjoying the beautiful weather we had, the scenery, and multiple deer in the yard every morning and evening. Only a couple minutes drive from Hill City, it is centrally located in the Black Hills. We would absolutely stay here again on our next visit.
Was ok - feel like owners/manager could do better for guests.
The property is secluded and cozy. There were moldy coffee grounds in the coffee maker, no laundry detergent to start linens at check out so used some we had with us. Needs a good dusting and freezer cleaned some. A shirt left from previous visitor and clean towels left on a dresser, not put away. A bathroom faucet was not properly attached and was spraying water when tried to use. We shut water off and notified owner/manager who thanked us for notifying them but didn't follow through with fixing or letting us know they weren't going to while we were there so unable to use that bathroom earmarked for two guests. We honestly would stay again - just felt like a rushed cleaning job to get us in for our stay and not that attentive once there. Hopefully this review might help that.

Location, Location, Location
The location of this home is just beautiful. Our weather was chilly in May but the fire places kept us warm. I loved sitting outside under the gazebos. Outdoor seating had comfortable cushions that were well kept in the deck boxes in the garage. The garage is oversized which made it so nice for loading and unloading. We were surprised by the foosball table in the garage. Everyone enjoyed a round of foosball. Additionally, there is a second refrigerator in the garage that we used for drinks. It is was so nice having that extra refrigerator. There are a lot of steps up or down into different rooms/areas; so those with mobility issues should be careful. We didn’t have any problems with our group. The water is high in iron; if you have sensitive skin be sure to bring lotion. I think hard water is common for this area but is a small price to pay for experiencing the Black Hills. We had a wonderful time! If you love the 1880 Train, then this is the place you want to stay.
It is Fall of 2025 and the colors of the trees did not disappoint. The house was very nice and clean. with the 4 bedrooms the property was perfect for oyr family.
We absolutely loved everything about this property! Location is perfect,. Home is in a beautiful spot. Our only complaint is the aie conditioning doesn't keep the upstairs bedrooms cool enough. Besides that A
Great location. Property has a list of maintenance needs. We enjoyed our stay, but would not stay again because the tap water has a strong odor that smells like rotten eggs or like sulfur. If the water issue could be fixed, we would consider staying again. Three couples ages 69 to 81 stayed and we all were repulsed by the terrible smell of the tap water.
Everything went great. We had some small concerns, but the owners quickly came to fix them. Cell phone service is terrible, so get your door code before you lose service.
Our family really enjoyed that this property was centrally located to all the activities we wanted to do. The location made us feel right at home, the house was warm and cozy at night when we returned from our days adventure. This time of year was perfect for sight seeing because there weren’t any crowds, and the weather was nice for hiking.
Overall, we had a great stay at this house. The yard was big so it was nice for the kids to run around in, but it was hard to keep my toddler from going into the street (not too busy of a street but you got some traffic). The kitchen is downstairs with one bedroom, which was right by the patio area. This worked out well for us since my in-laws woke up earlier and liked to cook. The other three bedrooms are upstairs. We were surprised with the set-up but we didn’t mind it. We loved being so close to Hill City so we can run to a restaurant or a park. Overall it was a great stay!
