"This was our second stay at Asian Jewel and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first. Our room (Jasmine) had a direct panoramic view of Bird Lake and we saw many different species of birds as well as small animals including chipmunks, water monitors, geckos (and a cobra one one day but soon banished by the staff...). The staff here are wonderful, friendly and welcoming and nothing too much trouble, and the food is excellent with both Sri Lankan and British options. We are vegetarians and they went out of their way to adapt meals pretty much to whatever suits, but the star of the show is the Sri Lankan rice and curry. It is in a peaceful location but only a short and cheap tuk tuk ride - around £1.75 - into the more hectic beach area. "

"This is a very nice beach front hotel. Popular place since 70s. Close to the city center with bus/train stations, banks/ATMs. Turtle beach also very close, we can feed the friendly sea turtles and take photos. Kids friendly beach area. This hotel has swimming pools. One for the kids also. Good breakfast and dinner buffet with international food items, some local items also daily. Good A/C, Hot water, comfy beds. Some TV channels with BBC. Very friendly staff!! They keep this property clean and tidy all the time. All the guests are very happy with the amenities. Lots of repeat tourist show this place is memorable for them! We will come and stay again. Big thanks to Front Desk staff, housekeeping and kitchen staff. Pool staff make sure all are safe and happy."

But you have to book the Premium Ocean View Cons: - Towels are not as clean as you would like them to be - Be aware of bugs in room - Cleaning stuff do not wipe floor and have to be reminded to change towels.
