Secluded Shades of Blue Lake Bistineau Sunsets Sleeps 19
Nestled on a quiet curve of Lake Bistineau, the Shades of Blue house is ready to welcome you to lake views with Spanish moss draped cypress trees and amazing sunsets and peaceful tranquility.
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries began the annual drawdown to control the salvinia weed on July 29. There is always water in view of the house and we drag the kayaks to the water's edge to use them. It is also fun to walk in the lake bed once it is dry.
The adjoining property to Shades of Blue is our popular Red Camp! Please inquire as to using both houses for special events or family reunions.

We truly enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful weather and all the amenities you could ask for was a wonderful bonus. The hostess truly made this place a home away from home with all the items needed to cook or keep cozy and have fun. We loved it!
Mary’s house gave hostel vibes in the best way possible. There was plenty of space for everyone, a massive yard, and the lake was beautiful! We had a great time.
The location offers the best view of majestic sunsets across the lake. The interior is designed in an intriguing manner that gives individual exit privacy if needed. Came to area to visit family the next town over so it was definitely convenient.
Perfect accommodation for a group of ages 9-82. We also rented the adjoining property, but spent most of our time at this property due to the size of the group. Great place to accommodate a large group and we appreciated the kitchen and outdoor supplies.
The house was amazing! The hostess was amazing as well! Everything was there that we needed and Moore! We really had a lovely time in the location just could not be more beautiful! Highly recommend this place!
This property had absolutely gorgeous scenery! It’s perfect for a family gathering, lots of room for outdoor activities. We went on the paddleboat, kayaking, swimming, fishing. played volleyball, kick ball, and many other activities. A big Thank you to Mrs. Mary and her husband for all there help.
We had a great time. The house and area is so nice and relaxing. Mary is very helpful and had everything ready for our large gathering. We rented both properties to accommodate all our families. You couldn't ask for anything better. This house is a definite go-to for me. We didn't have any issues and Mary was only a phone call away. The place has everything you need for a getaway. I absolutely loved my time spent there.
The blue house is a wonderful place to visit. Mary is a thoughtful, wonderful host. She quickly solved our problem with the can opener and then showed up with more boats for our teenagers to use.
The teens spend hours on the paddle boat and in the other boats, finding treasure in old lures and bobbers in the trees. They also enjoyed the bike, the fishing poles, the outdoor games, and the hammock.
We loved the cookies Mary left us so much, the kids wanted more, so we made homemade cookies from the ingredients in the house and ate those too. Several of us completed a jigsaw puzzle, and we enjoyed the foosball table, and the wonderful sunset.
This rental is a wonderful, comfortable place to relax and enjoy family time. Many thanks to Mary for hosting us. We hope to be able to visit this beautiful place again.
We were met by Mary for checking with a quick tour which was very helpful. She was very responsive even checking on us the next morning to ensure everyone arrived and we didn’t have any concerns. Th beds were comfortable , the view amazing and the lake super fun!! The adults enjoyed kayaking and the kids the paddle boat (plenty of life jackets).
The kitchen had EVERYTHING you would ever need, cutting boards, chip and dip trays, even a stock pot (anybody say crawfish boil LOL)
There was plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable (12 people) and for a few people to come out and hang out for the day after my daughter’s college graduation. The hour drive into Shreveport was totally worth it to have this amazing experience. Priceless memories were made.
Several of us wish we could have stayed a week instead of a weekend. Thank you Mary for being not just a host but a blessing.
My family and I, group of 12, traveled to Louisiana for the graduation of our youngest son from Grambling State University. We chose to stay at this property because it was secluded, there was plenty of space, and the scenery was beautiful in the photos. We were not disappointed. We were able to spend time together under one roof without feeling crowded.
Mary was present to greet us when we arrived. And yes we received a plate of delicious cookies. Our adult boys were able to energetically debate the best athletes without disturbing our neighbors. The home is cozy and super clean. I cooked 3 meals a day for my crew with no space issues. There were plenty of towels, dishes, etc...
We contacted Mary a couple times and she responded quickly. She dropped off extra trash bags not because we asked but she was thoughtful enough to think that our large group might need a few more. We had a wonderful time.
Loved staying here. I can say only good things about Shades of Blue. Our host was wonderful. She left cookies! The house was wonderful as well as immaculate. The view was stunning. There was space to spread out, little nooks to have a special conversation, and space to wander about outside. Adults and kids had a wonderful time.
Our host, Mary, was amazing! She was there to greet us upon check-in and gave us a thorough walk through of the property. It was great for our family gathering. Very spacious and well-equipped with everything we needed. She responded very timely to our additional questions and was very polite.
Mary was an excellent host! She was prompt with answering any questions that I had prior to the stay. She had the kayaks and stand up paddle boards pulled out to the lake bed since it was low. The house was very well maintained and perfectly clean when we arrived. Mary even left a plate of cookies for us. I would highly recommend staying at this party for any large groups, lots of space indoors and out!
I have stayed in several lake houses but this one was my favorite.. The host was amazing with warm southern hospitality. Our family enjoyed the beautiful sunset outside.
We had such a great experience here. The owner Mary is so warm and inviting. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable. She even bought some new fishing poles for our kids to use. They had plenty of life jackets to use, games and activities. We enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks. The house and kitchen were equipped with plenty of towels, extra bedding and kitchen gadgets. We went to Shreveport a couple times, which had plenty to do for all.
Thank you Mary for making it such a wonderful experience for us to create memories!
